[Report] I have decided to end my broadcasts on Voicy

This is sudden, but as of today, I have decided to end my audio broadcasts on Voicy and consolidate everything to stand.fm.

I will talk about the reasons for this and what to expect in the future.

The daily workload is brutal

Until now, I have been broadcasting on both Voicy and stand.fm simultaneously.

However, in reality, this process was quite difficult...

The thing is, audio recorded on Voicy cannot be downloaded, and you cannot upload audio files either. Therefore,

the task of "extracting the audio data from the Voicy playback screen to upload to stand.fm"had to be done every single day.

Busy with housework and childcare, there were times when I couldn't record during the day and had to "schedule for tomorrow before going to sleep," but this process was, after all, painful...

Voicy personalities with a large number of followers can freely download and upload audio sources, but... that feature was not unlocked for me. (By the way, I inquired about it several times, but it was a no-go.)

It is important for communication to be "sustainable"

When I work, I am always thinking about "sustainability."

I believe it is important to "start even if you don't know if it will last," but at the same time, I am conscious of the decision to "quit if you judge that you cannot continue" with the same level of importance.

Actually, recently, mistakes in the scheduling process for broadcasts on stand.fm have been increasing.

I have been uploading audio from the wrong day, setting the wrong date and time for scheduled broadcasts, or making mistakes in the settings for regular versions versus membership versions more often.

The accumulation of these things might be due to my own fatigue or carelessness, but... I also thought that I should focus on "system errors" rather than human errors.

The reason is that, simply put, if recording and scheduling can be completed solely on stand.fm, the possibility of such hassle and mistakes can be significantly reduced.

There is nothing left to listen to on Voicy

Recently, there are very few personalities who broadcast regularly on Voicy. Most channels are either quitting or operating while reducing their broadcast frequency.

I have been using Voicy for about five years myself, but compared to back then, the number of programs I can listen to has plummeted, and I find myself thinking, "Are there no more audio updates for today?" more and more often.

Because of this, the platforms I use are shifting away from Voicy.

I find myself using stand.fm, Spotify, and YouTube more often.

In particular, since I started listening to long-form content on YouTube and podcasts on Spotify recently, I have begun challenging myself to create longer radio-style videos (video podcasts) as well.

Also, the announcement that the popular Voicy channel "Nagara Nikkei" would end its Voicy distribution at the end of March 2024 and transition to podcasts was a major factor.

(It feels like this trend among major channels will continue...)

Regarding future audio distribution

On Stand.fm, I have been doing regular broadcasts and membership broadcasts for a while now. I can freely download and upload audio files, and there are various other features that Voicy doesn't have.

I think of each social media platform as an "island," and this decision also includes the desire to "recommend a new island called Stand.fm to all my listeners."

I was happy to be chosen as a Voicy personality, which has a low acceptance rate, but... when I thought about "myself being able to continue audio distribution" rather than being a "Voicy personality," I arrived at this decision.

Moving forward, I would like to focus on Stand.fm while continuing multi-platform audio distribution and thinking about how to combine it with my content business!

Lastly... I was happy that Ikehaya-san touched on the content of my broadcast this time on his Voicy.
