I believe the true thrill of a writer's job lies in 'planning'
I was given the opportunity by Web Writer Lab to speak on the theme of 'How to sharpen your planning skills'.
I talked about how editors judge plans in their minds and the concrete steps to create high-precision plans... or at least that was my intention, but the part I most hoped would resonate with people was the very end. It was the part where I talked about the moment I felt 'I'm glad I chose this job' through my own planning.
■
I will omit the details, but the moment I felt 'I'm glad I chose this job' while pursuing my career as a writer (reporter) was in my third year after graduation, when a certain interview project I did received a huge response.
It wasn't just that the page views were high; after I covered it, the story was picked up by other media outlets, and eventually, it was even reported on by mass media. The interview subject became increasingly articulate, and in the end, it led to a movement that moved the local government and changed the regional medical system.
Of course, the premise is that this movement happened not because of me, but because of the wonderful, steady efforts of the interview subject who had been working on it for a long time. But even so, it was a moment where I felt, 'Because I created this plan, I was able to contribute to the industry, even if just a little.'
(It's too abstract and probably doesn't make sense to those who didn't attend the seminar, sorry about that...!)
The feeling of realizing that 'a plan I created from scratch moved people' is truly immense, and for me, it's to the point where I feel like 'maybe I've lived for this very moment.'
Even in a society where AI and IT are advancing, I believe there are many facts that won't reach the people they should unless a writer creates a plan for them, and I feel that coming up with plans is also the work of creating a 'masterpiece' for oneself. I also think that if various writers compete with each other with a conscience to disseminate information, society will become much better.
I am very grateful that you listened to the seminar, including my own personal stories! Thank you again to everyone who participated!
