Actually, I recently found a savior for those with zero artistic talent, and that is using AI tools to create new characters.
🎨 The sad history of being told 'that's unique'
I have absolutely no artistic talent and have always had the earnest desire to 'draw cute pictures.' However, when I actually try to draw, the result is at a level where my daughter tries
her absolute best to be polite by saying, 'Dad, your drawing is... unique,' or 'Yeah, I think it's good' (while looking away) (lol). Just as I was wondering if I could use this
'uniqueness' as a personality trait, I read a book and learned that 'the era has arrived where you don't need artistic talent as long as you have an image in your mind!' Yes, that is the modern magic
of having AI draw for you.
🤖 'Collaborating' with AI is just like raising a child
The process of giving the AI precise instructions (prompts) to bring an image to life is both interesting and profound. The final result changes completely depending on how you give the instructions. It feels just like groping in the dark while raising a child. What I challenged myself with, of course, was creating a character for LINE stickers with the theme of
'muted colors x cat'. First order:
'Create a character that can be used for LINE stickers by combining muted colors and a cat'
AI's first response:
'I have created a cute cat character that perfectly matches your image!'

Me (inner voice):
'This is no different from the 'unique' drawings I make! That's not my image at all!'
💖 I've grown attached to the AI's earnestness
However, this is where the AI's brilliance shines.
To get closer to my image, I gave more specific instructions.
• 'Make it a bit more like a watercolor painting'
• 'Give it a gentle feel that everyone will like'
• 'Give it more originality as a character'
Then, the AI earnestly tried to meet my order, repeating the trial and error process. And finally,
a super cute 'muted-color cat' that even my wife praised was completed! The completed cat character is, of course, cute, but more than that, I have developed an
attachment to the AI for its earnest efforts to fulfill my order. The fact that it learns my preferences, saying 'Since it was like this last time, let's base it on that...' and even understands my feelings, is just so endearing.
💡 How to get along with an overly capable partner
While I try to restrain myself from getting too attached to AI, telling myself, 'No, no, don't rely on it too much!', it is truly the mostexcellent partnerone could ask for, possessing vast information and search tools. Even with zero artistic talent, I could
bring my ideas to life.This was truly amoving experience.I will talk in more detail later about the
