The Old Me Was a Quitter! How I Managed to Keep Writing on Note for 60 Days Straight!
The reason why I, a chronic quitter, was able to keep writing on Note for 60 days
The old me was a classic quitter.
I would buy a new diary with enthusiasm, only for it to be blank after three days.
Morning routines, dieting, studying English—
I had the motivation for all of them, but before I knew it, I couldn't keep them up.
I would be disappointed in myself and fall into self-loathing again...
It was a repeating cycle.
But now, even though I'm the same person, there are more things I can keep up with.
When I looked back and wondered why, I realized I had just changed
how I deal with myself rather than the act of "continuing."
First, the thing I stopped doing was
"Perfectionism"
I used to think that if there was a day I couldn't do something, everything was ruined.
For example, if I skipped one day, it was all over.
But now, I've started calling the days I can't do it "rest days."
Then, strangely, I felt relieved and was able to get back to it the next day.
I realized that "people who keep things up" aren't people who never skip,
but "people who come back even after skipping."
The next thing I changed was
"How I set my goals"
I used to only chase results.
Like "I want to lose 3 kilos in a month" or "I want to memorize 100 English words."
But when you only look at the results, it's easy to get discouraged by even the smallest changes.
So now, I've made my goal "to end the day feeling good."
If I can think "I did my best today" before I go to sleep at night, that's enough.
I realized that piling up those moments leads to big changes in the end.
And finally, what I value most is
"Praising myself"
Even if I only keep it up for 5 minutes, I acknowledge it properly.
Just by telling myself in my heart, "You did it today, too,"
strangely, I find myself wanting to do it again tomorrow.
Perhaps continuing something is more about building "trust in yourself" than it is about effort.
With gratitude to all of you
And today, I was able to continue writing on note for 60 consecutive days. It is a level of consistency that even surprises me 😊
However, being able to continue this note for 60 consecutive days is by no means something I achieved on my own.
Calling me "Mommy."
Introducing me to others.
Encouraging me with comments and likes.
Thank you so much 😭😭😭
I am someone who always rushes forward with nothing but enthusiasm, but during these 60 days, I fell ill and caused you all to worry by asking, "Are you okay?"
Even so, thanks to everyone watching over me warmly, I feel like I learned to continue at my own pace without rushing.
It is okay to have days where I cannot read, cannot write comments, or can only leave a like.
Even if I take a break in the middle, I can just start moving again.
In that way, I will continue to keep going at my own rhythm.
Even if you are a quitter, you can start over as many times as you want.
With all of you kind note creators,
without overdoing it, enjoying, learning, and empathizing,
I hope we can grow gently each time we do so 🌷
I look forward to your continued support.
If you found this even a little bit insightful,
I would be happy if you could press the like button 🌸
