Lilac Senryu
I am participating in the Lilac Senryu.
The lack of consistency is just like the inside of my head.
I'll get these 5-7-5 poems out early
and tidy up my brain.
Uber driver crosses the frame while I snap a cherry blossom photo
Meditating on spring melancholy, I just get lost
Water bottle leaks everywhere, my backpack becomes an aquarium
First poem:
While I was taking pictures of cherry blossoms on the side of the road, I accidentally snapped a photo of an Uber Eats delivery person. Perfect timing. I wonder if I got in the way of their work.
Second poem
I'm learning yoga, but I'm confident in how many distracting thoughts I have in my brain.
Meditation is difficult. I wonder if thoughts get particularly tangled up in the spring.
Third poem
My daughter's blunder. I'm writing this Senryu on her behalf.
(It's a shame, since she just joined the Noter Children's Club...)
Around noon, while she was sitting on the train, she felt her skirt get cold...
The lid of her water bottle had apparently opened wide inside her backpack, and everything inside was soaked 💦
It was at the level where water was actually sloshing around inside!
(She claims, "I'm not exaggerating." It was synthetic leather, so...)
Her handkerchief and tissues were all soaked, so she asked a kind-looking woman sitting next to her,
"Could I please have a tissue?"
and she was helped out. Apparently, people around her started offering tissues one after another.
Thank you so much. Thank you for taking care of my child (*- -)(*_ _)bow
It was a story that made me think Japan is made of kindness.
And I can't hide my surprise and joy at the growth of my child, who is now able to ask strangers for help.
I'm almost crying.
(Because she's a child who spent almost all of her adolescence at home.)
By the way, her laptop wasn't in her bag, her smartphone was in her hand the whole time, and since the water bottle only contained plain water, the damage to her backpack—which she had only bought two days ago—was kept to a minimum.
Maybe it's a spring miracle ✨
