Participating in the Shun-hai (Seasonal Haiku Cup) Part 3 [Haiku]
I've spent the last few days feeling nervous,
wondering if I'd make it in time.💦
I'm participating with three haiku. Phew.
🌊🌊🌊
First fireflies, as if looking at something unseen
Running away from home with only my smartphone, the rainy season moon
Geometric patterns in the silence, a cooling rain
🌊🌊🌊
<First Haiku> Seasonal word: "First fireflies"
I was able to go to the firefly viewing event at Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa. I watched intently, mesmerized, as more fireflies than I expected glowed faintly. Although the flickering of the fireflies looks fragile, it is also a certain proof of life continuing. When the firefly light I reached out for suddenly vanished, the remaining darkness felt even deeper.
<Second Haiku> Seasonal word: "Rainy season moon"
The moon that unexpectedly shows its face during the rainy season. If you encounter it, your heart is stolen. Although its outline is blurred by a thin veil of clouds, its light shines strongly through the thin clouds, brightening the night sky.
Though I ran away from home on impulse, the rainy season moon in the sky I suddenly looked up at is shining softly as if to comfort me.
(Actually, I've never even done a 'mini' runaway from home.
Instead (?), I went on a solo trip to Kanazawa. I let my family know in advance.)
<Third Haiku> Seasonal word: "Cooling rain"
A few minutes' walk from Kenrokuen is the D.T. Suzuki Museum. A place where you can learn about the Buddhist philosopher Daisetz Suzuki, the building itself seems to embody Zen.
In the artificial pond placed within the building, the raindrops of the rainy season made sounds as they drew concentric circles, creating a beautiful harmony. I enjoyed the time spent listening intently, wondering if the place was trying to reveal some kind of enlightenment to me.
