Ma-kun, please hang in there just a little longer

On Saturday morning,
Ma-kun developed pulmonary edema.

Good evening, this is Mame🫘.

Since the night before,
I felt his breathing was a little fast.

He kept waking up throughout the night,
and seemed somehow restless.

Even when morning came, his breathing remained fast.

He finished his meal, but
he was clearly different from the usual Ma-kun.

Usually, when we are eating, he always comes near and begs, "Give me some!"
but that day, he just stayed still in the corner of the room.

"This is definitely not right."

Thinking that, I went to our regular vet first thing in the morning.

The diagnosis was pulmonary edema.

He received treatment immediately and was admitted to the hospital.

Since it was Saturday, our regular clinic would be closed on Sunday and Monday.

So, from Saturday night, he was transferred to a newly opened emergency clinic.

I was truly grateful that they accepted him even though it was outside of their operating hours.

And today, I went to visit him.

Ma-kun was sleeping inside an oxygen chamber.

When he noticed me, he wagged his tail excitedly.

The moment I saw that, tears welled up in my eyes.

The doctor told me,

"His condition has stabilized quite a bit.
He should be able to be discharged tomorrow."

The fluid in his lungs has cleared,

and his breathing has calmed down, too.
I'm so relieved.

Because of this incident,

I also talked to the doctor about his future treatment.
He will continue to take heart medication and diuretics.

But,

I will do my best together with Ma-kun.
Also, the doctor suggested,

"To avoid confusion regarding the treatment plan, it would be better to decide on one main hospital."

Our family has decided to make this new hospital our regular clinic from now on.

The doctors and staff are very kind, and they really helped us during this emergency.

Moreover, it is the hospital where my daughter is doing her internship with her future career in mind.

I feel very reassured that such a wonderful hospital has opened nearby.

I finished my visit today and came home.

Ma-kun won't be here until tomorrow.

I really miss him.

But Ma-kun is working hard all by himself.

So I will hold on a little longer, too.

Let's come home healthy tomorrow, okay?
