My First Note (Why I, a former ice-age part-timer with 5,000 yen to my name, became a Labor and Social Security Attorney and SME Consultant and decided to start a note.)
Nice to meet you, I'm Makoto. Thank you for finding this article among so many others!
I have shared content on Ameblo and Bookmeter in the past, but I started this note because I want to deliver my experiences and learning in a way that is 'truly useful to someone'.
First, let me tell you a little bit about my 'rock bottom'.
1. It started with the terror of having only 5,000 yen
'If things keep going like this, I really won't be able to eat...'
Although I now work in general affairs and human resources for a company and hold the qualifications of Labor and Social Security Attorney and Small and Medium Enterprise Management Consultant, the start of my career was pure 'despair'.
I entered the workforce in the middle of the employment ice age. I kept failing interviews, and the company I finally joined I left after only a few years. From then on, I spent my days working part-time jobs until my late 20s.
I couldn't find a new job, and the anxiety and terror of that day when I realized my cash on hand was 5,000 yen are things I still see in my dreams.
The only weapon I chose to survive in this society, despite not being particularly skilled (if anything, I was clumsy) and having no support, was to 'get difficult qualifications and learn practical work in the trenches'.
Even after the economy recovered and I happened to step into the world of general affairs and HR without experience, I continued to take qualification exams to raise my status. Even so, I failed the exams many times, and although I almost gave up, I clung on desperately, and as a result, I managed to stand on my own two feet.
2. What I want to deliver to you in this note
Now in my 40s, while raising children and joining a consultant cram school, I have had more opportunities to look back on my life.
I have spent my time focusing entirely on 'input for my own survival,' but from now on, I want to enter a phase where I 'give back the knowledge I have learned and the many failures I have experienced in the field to all of you who are currently struggling'.
In this note, I will not be sharing polished success philosophies, but rather the 'gritty reality of the field'.
① 'Embodied' business know-how that doesn't go by the textbook
'What happened when I brought the theories I learned as a consultant into an actual HR setting?'
'How did I use my knowledge as a Labor and Social Security Attorney to solve gritty labor troubles in the field?' I will combine exam knowledge (theory) x field practice (reality) x insights gained from reading, and break them down into a form that you can 'truly use at work starting tomorrow'.
② A record of 'mentality and work style' for surviving the ice age in a gritty way
Major failures at work, waves of physical condition, career anxiety... I will write about my realistic trial and error as a person in their 40s, raising children, and working as a company employee, and how I turn forward from there to raise my 'score of personal happiness (connections, fulfillment, and being myself)'.
Finally
My life has been full of regrets, always thinking, 'If only I had done things differently back then...' but it is precisely because I kept moving forward, however messily, that I have been able to see the view I see today.
Those struggling with human relationships, whether at work or with friends
Those struggling with work, career, or qualification studies and hitting a wall
Business owners or executives struggling with how to revitalize their workplace
If you can relate to this even a little, please 'Like' or 'Follow' me, as it will be a great encouragement for my future writing!
Next time, I will talk in detail about 'Why I chose the path of a Labor and Social Security Attorney and SME Consultant from the despair of having only 5,000 yen (and how I managed to carve out time to study).'
I look forward to connecting with you all from here on out!
