Hello! I'm Makoto.
To increase time for the things that matter—like housework, childcare, work, and hobbies—
I share the "simple time-saving life" I've been refining through trial and error.
<Summary>
The Reiwa-era Three Sacred Treasures (washer-dryer, robot vacuum, dishwasher) are essential items for saving time
Combining installation with clever usage methods leads to even more time savings
Introducing 6 usage methods that led to 5 hours of time saved per month
The Reiwa-era Three Sacred Treasures are time-saving appliances that everyone recommends, but
since few people share how to actually use them, I'm sharing my family's methods!
<Washer-Dryer>
Usage Method 1: Switch to dryer-safe clothing
・Using only polyester-based clothing that doesn't wrinkle easily reduces the hassle of taking them out
・Be careful with thin 100% cotton items or those with many decorations, as they wrinkle easily
・Using fabric softeners with anti-wrinkle ingredients helps prevent wrinkles (Gel Ball 4D is recommended)
Usage Method 2: Storage without folding
・Storing items immediately after drying finishes eliminates the hassle of folding
・It is recommended to put them in cases or boxes so they aren't visible
Usage Method 3: Use face towels instead of bath towels
・Stopping the use of hard-to-dry bath towels helps prevent damp odors
・Standardizing to face towels of the same color and size reduces management hassle
・Once worn out, use them as cleaning rags (changing the color makes it easy to distinguish them from active towels)
<Robot Vacuum>
Usage Method 4: Switch to furniture that is elevated or easy to move
・Reduces the hassle of moving things when starting to clean
・Use sofas with legs/stands with casters (the ones for houseplants are excellent!), etc.
・If you use a robot vacuum with automatic mop cleaning, the effect is doubled!
Usage Method 5: Hiding power cords
・Prevents the robot vacuum from stopping by hiding the cords that are its natural enemy
・It is recommended to run them along the wall using cord cover moldings (using masking tape to prevent scratches is a good idea)
<Dishwasher>
Usage Method 6: Standardize to dishwasher-safe tableware
・Minimize effort by reducing the number of dishes that must be hand-washed as much as possible.
・Dishwasher-safe wooden soup bowls and similar items are now sold by various companies, including Nitori.
Utilization Method 7: Standardize your tableware
・By using dishes of the same shape, you eliminate the 'dishwasher puzzle' of worrying about how to load them.
・Ceramics with fewer bumps and grooves are recommended for their ease of handling and to prevent unwashed spots.
・In our home, we have standardized with Iittala Teema.
For those who have given up on installing them
・Space issues with front-loading washing machines
→ Compact models are available in the same size as top-loading ones, making installation possible.
→ I recommend the AQUA compact model that I installed at my parents' house.
・Dishwashers in rentals
→ Installation is possible in rentals using a countertop model and a diverter valve.
→ Panasonic's countertop model has the strongest cleaning power!
