Record of the First Day of School Refusal

The opening ceremony for the third term.

That day was my second daughter's first day of school refusal.

In the morning, I entered into the health observation app that teachers check at school, 'I will be absent due to poor mental health. I will bring the assignments and belongings.'

At school start time, I went to the school alone, submitted the winter break assignments, and left her belongings, such as her desk drawer and paint set, in the classroom.

Then I received today's homework from the teacher.

The teacher said,

'It's okay if she doesn't do the homework, you know?'

but I replied,

'However, she mentioned that she wants to come on days when there is P.E., so I think she has the desire to go to school. So, I'm not sure if she can do it or not, but could I take it just in case?'

and I took it home.

After returning home, my second daughter and I had breakfast together.

She was quiet, but her condition was okay.

After that, she was relaxing on the sofa watching YouTube.

Then she dozed off for a little bit.

But she sat up suddenly and said,

'I'll do my homework.'

and finished the homework worksheets in no time.

Then,

'Shall we go to the supermarket?'

she asked me.

Even though yesterday they seemed so unwell they couldn't even go to the supermarket or walk the dog.

And then we went to the supermarket together.

Since they seemed to be doing better,

I asked, "Would you mind coming with me to the 100-yen shop?"

and managed to run a quick errand.

They were totally fine with it👍

That's great, that's great💕

By the time we got back, it was already noon, so we ate the bread we bought.

My second daughter, who usually prefers rice over bread, surprisingly bought something like a chicken fillet burger at the bakery.

We laughed a lot while talking about fun things and she ate the big burger completely💕

Yeah, things are going well, going well✨

After that, we had some YouTube time while cuddling with the dog.

Thanks to the dog, my second daughter feels comforted, and I can make some time for myself, which is a huge help✨

I'm really glad we got a dog🐕

However, around 2 o'clock, she started feeling a bit unwell, was listless, and kept sighing😮‍💨

She was feeling nauseous, so I think I gave her anti-nausea medicine here?

Three packets of anti-nausea medicine left.

The pediatrician is closed tomorrow.

So, I suggested we go to the clinic today just in case to get some medicine, and managed to take her to the hospital.

Even though she only had a slight fever when we measured it at home, her temperature had gone up quite a bit at the hospital💦

So, instead of the waiting room, we were shown to a bed and told to wait behind the curtain.

Between having a fever and being made to wait in a bed, my second daughter went into a mini-panic💦

"Hurry💦 hurry💦 we're not being called💦 not yet!?💦 I want to go home😭 I'm scared💦 I'm scared💦"

she said💦

After that, we were finally called in, and during the examination, they checked her heartbeat, stomach, and throat, but there were no abnormalities.

I asked for anti-nausea medication again and got a prescription.

When we got home and took her temperature, it had dropped to a slight fever as expected😅

There are people who hate hospitals and get high blood pressure when they're there, but can that happen with a fever too💦?

Because she was totally fine when we got back, and in fact,

"I'm hungry."

she said, and ate two rice balls.

But anyway, the waves between when she's feeling good and when she's feeling bad are intense.

"You had a fever, so let's take tomorrow off too. If you don't want to do your homework, you don't have to😊 The teacher said it was fine not to do it, so there's nothing to worry about at all😊"

Right now, it's just a time to get her daily rhythm back on track, but also to spend time in a relaxed and laid-back way✨
