The secret gadget I discovered after the sauna hat that turns outdoor bathing into a 'different dimension.' What I realized under the sky of Kawagoe.
Hello, I'm Captain Frog, a digital creator and sauna blogger.
What kind of favorite gear do you bring with you when you go to the sauna? Your favorite sauna hat, personal sauna mat, or perhaps your go-to post-sauna protein shake. Now that sauna culture has become so well-established, I imagine many of you have your own 'totonoi (post-sauna relaxation) set' tucked away in your bag.
I, too, have tried various sauna goods and introduced them on my blog. However, one day I wondered, 'I have all the gear. But am I truly immersing myself 100% in my own world?'
This time, I would like to talk about my experience at the renowned 'Chiisana Tabi Kawagoe Onsen' in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture, where I found the answer to that question, and about the 'new partner' that completely changed my sauna life.

Blown by the winds of Koedo. The overwhelming potential of Kawagoe Onsen
'Chiisana Tabi Kawagoe Onsen' is located a little away from the bustling warehouse-style streetscape that attracts tourists. Once you step inside, it is a quiet, Japanese-style space that makes you forget the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The sauna here is also wonderful. There are 'Ki no Yu' (Wood Bath) and 'Ishi no Yu' (Stone Bath) that you can enjoy on alternating days, and both stimulate the senses with a punchy heat of over 90°C and an auto-löyly that descends at the perfect timing. Waiting for you after you've warmed up thoroughly is a crisp, cold water bath. The flow up to this point is also perfect.

And, the greatest weapon of Kawagoe Onsen is, without a doubt, that vast 'outdoor bathing space.' As you look up at the blue sky or the starry sky and sit deep in a reclining chair, and the pleasant Kawagoe breeze brushes against your skin, your brain becomes filled with a pleasant sense of euphoria.
'Ah, this is the best...'
While savoring that feeling, I sometimes notice a small, yet impossible-to-ignore 'noise'.

The new staple item that solved a problem that was too luxurious
Because of its high quality, Kawagoe Onsen is bustling with many sauna enthusiasts and locals on weekends. That is a wonderful thing, but occasionally, the surrounding chatter and footsteps reach my ears, and there are moments when I am pulled back from the wave of 'totonoi' I had finally reached.
'I want to focus more on this breeze and my own heartbeat.'
The items I encountered while harboring such a luxurious concern were the 'sauna-exclusive sound-insulating silicone earplugs'andthe 'outdoor-bathing-exclusive light-blocking eye mask' that I want to introduce this time.
Some of you might think, 'Earplugs in the sauna?' But these brought about an unimaginable effect.
I pushed the earplugs, made of medical-grade silicone that is washable and heat-resistant, into my ears, slid the highly light-blocking eye mask over my eyes, and lay down on a reclining chair at Kawagoe Onsen.
In that instant, the world changed.
My field of vision was dyed in complete pitch black, and the surrounding noise faded away. All that reached my ears was the faint sound of flowing water in the distance and my own quiet heartbeat. And the sensation of only the coldness of the gentle Kawagoe breeze touching my skin became sharpened to an unbelievable degree of clarity.
It was literally a 'different dimension of immersion.' If my previous outdoor bathing was like 'eating while watching TV,' this is as dense as 'facing the food one-on-one in a private room at a high-end restaurant'.

Beyond the ultimate sauna experience
Moving from 'defensive' gear like sauna hats and mats to 'offensive' gear that lets you control and elevate the quality of your outdoor air bathing. Since getting this item, my sauna journeys have become even deeper.
The potential of Kawagoe Onsen is far greater than this. There are countless charms that I can't finish talking about, such as how to enjoy the daily changing baths and the exquisite 'sauna meals' that soak into your flushed body after a sauna.
I have written about the specific golden sauna routine at Kawagoe Onsen this time, a detailed facility report, and a more in-depth review of the items introduced, with plenty of passion on my main blog.
"I want to plan the best rotation at Kawagoe Onsen next weekend!" "I want to experience a 'totonoi' (state of deep relaxation) of a different dimension right now!"
