Can You See the 'Invisible'?
Phew! Now for a serious talk. ~Why is my job so 'exhausting'?
Phew! Thank you all for your hard work today! ...Wait, some of you are still working, aren't you? Sorry about that! Haha.
Yes, this is Hōroku Suigo (Drunken Records)!
I am deeply grateful and overwhelmed by the response to my self-introduction article, which exceeded all expectations! This is no time to be drinking! (...Though, of course, I'm having a toast as I say this! 🍺)
Well, having decided to become a creator who can talk freely with the help of alcohol, I'm going to ease into a somewhat serious topic tonight with a glass in hand.
One of the angles of the 'book I'm currently writing,' which I'm seriously fumbling through, is the question of 'Why is our work so exhausting?'.
A drunkard's earnest inquiry
I have something I want to convey to all of you professionals who work too hard, starting with those in interpersonal support roles.
'Good intentions alone aren't enough—the 'exhaustion' covering the front lines'
When you drink, you tend to let out honest feelings you wouldn't normally say, right?
Those honest feelings often include desperate screams like 'I'm so exhausted' or 'Why is this so unrewarding?' But that's not your fault.
The concept of the book is a practical guide for professionals who are exhausted by the pressure of efficiency to understand the root causes and regain their 'professional pride' and 'peace of mind.'
For example, here are some of the true identities of your exhaustion.
The true nature of 'shadow work (invisible labor)': The 'invisible labor' we do voluntarily to fill the gaps in the system. This really drains our physical and mental strength, doesn't it?
Efficiency and the tyranny of time: Instead of following the user's pace, we are chased by 'limited time' and end up fragmenting services like a conveyor belt. This 'feeling of being rushed by time' is also a major cause of exhaustion.
...Yes, as you might have guessed, my motto is 'I may be dazed, but I record properly. I may be drunk, but I speak properly,' so I will talk about structural issues seriously, even in a drunken tone!
'Assessment' is the compass to solve exhaustion!
When you hear 'assessment,' you might think it sounds difficult, but it's actually the best 'operating system for thinking' to overcome this 'exhaustion.'
'Why is that boss always angry?'
'How can I work more efficiently?'
'What do I actually want to do in the first place?'
When you reframe this kind of question from an assessment perspective (the ability to see invisible structures and backgrounds), you can surprisingly find a clear solution.
In the book, focusing on a visualization technique called the 'Relationship Diagram' that makes the true nature of this 'distress' visible, I plan to deliver The Power to See the 'Invisible'(tentative title) ~Thinking Methods for Interpersonal Support to Reclaim Humanity~ .
In this note, I would like to explain not only my daily drunken episodes but also this kind of professional knowledge in a relaxed way, while using it as a snack for my drinks (lol).
Next time, I plan to share a little more about concrete tips for overcoming this 'distress,' such as how to face 'uncertainty'.
So, thank you for your continued support of 'Bairoku Suigo' (Drunken Records of Absurdity)! Comments and questions are very welcome! Let's talk while getting drunk together (maybe?)!
Well then, cheers to today!🍻
