Why I Started Drawing Koji Tamaki
Hello. I'm Candy.
This time, I'd like to write a little about the reason why I started drawing Koji Tamaki.
Originally, I enjoyed appreciating paintings and doodling with my only daughter.
Even while raising my child, I think the desire to express myself was rooted somewhere inside me.
My daughter moved to Tokyo for university, and it was right around the time I turned 50 that my husband and I returned to living as a couple.
With the COVID-19 pandemic also happening, I wanted to have a hobby I could do at home, which led me to jump into an online painting class.
At first, I was drawing the same motifs as everyone else, such as animals, flowers, and models.

But suddenly, I started to wonder, "What do I really want to draw?"
It was then that I happened to attend a Koji Tamaki Billboard Classics concert for the first time in a while.
Hearing his live singing voice for the first time in years made my heart tremble...!
The feelings I had held since I was in junior high school were suddenly reignited.
That night, unable to suppress my emotions, I drew this piece in one night.

"I want to draw him, whom I adore, with a sense of reverence."
That was the moment I felt that strongly.
My mother, who saw that first work, said,
"Why don't you post it on social media?" and gave me a push.
That was the start of my debut on X (formerly Twitter).
Three years have passed since then.
Before I knew it, I had drawn and posted over 500 works.
The spare time in my life in my 50s has begun to shine with color.
