[Short Story] Senior Coffee Shop Part 1 End
There is a coffee shop I frequent about two blocks away from my workplace.
It is my daily routine to have a relaxing breakfast here every morning before work.
The Showa-retro interior is very old.
The chairs are torn in places, with the sponge stuffing poking out.
But that is what makes it good.
The customers are the same faces every day.
They are all elderly regulars.
It is very soothing.
However, there has been a problem lately.
This coffee shop is run by a single elderly waitress in the dining area, but...
Her behavior is becoming more precarious by the day.
While working,
"I left something at home"
she says, and just walks out of the shop.
"My place is really close by"
she says, but then,
forever,
forever,
forever,
forever,
she never comes back...
Yesterday, they came to my table 30 minutes after taking my order and asked,
"What was your order again?"
......
I suppose I'm just as much to blame for waiting patiently for 30 minutes.
When I brought the slip to the register, there was nothing written on it.
"What was your order again?"
......
This morning, the breakfast plate arrived, but the coffee never came.
Since I couldn't wait 30 minutes again, I went to the kitchen to tell them.
Then, they handed me the coffee that had been sitting there the whole time, making excuses like,
"I had it all ready for you!"
Naturally, it was cold.
It was already iced coffee.
......
Even so, I don't feel like getting angry.
I am Madante the Buddha.
I don't get worked up and angry easily.
After all, the speed at which time flows is different for everyone in this world.
The time it takes for coffee to cool is the same for everyone, though.
The End
