Local Teshi: 461 The final "Baby Bluff" is in Nagoya! And memories of Nagaoka
Hello again, everyone in Nagoya! I can't remember how long it's been, but it's been a while! My first time at Menicon Theater Aoi! I look forward to working with you!
That's right. Currently, I am performing in Gekidan Hotchkiss's "Baby Bluff" at Menicon Theater Aoi.
Honda Gekijo in Tokyo and Nagaoka Lyric Hall Theater in Nagaoka, and now I am performing in the final location, Nagoya. Actually, I already finished the two Saturday shows just a while ago, and only the two shows on Sunday remain.
The venue, Menicon Theater Aoi, is about a 10-minute walk southwest from Chikusa Station on the Higashiyama Subway Line and JR Chuo Main Line. I won't write the details, so please look it up yourselves. I'm relying on others. The entrance is a bit hard to find, so be careful.
"Baby Bluff," which has been performed in three cities, will finally have its last show tomorrow. We have managed to make it this far safely, so I want to finish tomorrow safely and wrap things up properly. Let's be careful, and let's do just that.
So, for that reason, last week I went to Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture for the first time in my life. It seems there was a cold wave said to occur only once every few years, and the amount of snowfall surprised even the people of Nagaoka. Of course, I was surprised too, but I was relieved that there was less snow than during my past February performance in Yamagata.
That said, it was still covered in snow. The plaza in front of the theater looked like this.

The theater's parking lot was also being cleared of snow.

Even the main street in front of the station is like this.

Since this Nagaoka performance only had one show each on Saturday and Sunday, I had some free time, so I walked around the theater and the area in front of Nagaoka Station. However, this walking around was tough, because it was covered in snow. Even if I wanted to walk, I couldn't walk well.
The roads were cleared quite carefully, but because they pile up the cleared snow on the side of the road, a wall of snow has formed between the road and the sidewalk.

Friend's "Italian", which is said to be Nagaoka's soul food, had a mysterious taste, and the Niigata specialty "Hegi Soba" was delicious with a firm texture because it uses funori seaweed as a binder, and the authentic "Tochio deep-fried tofu" is fluffy and crispy, which is great.

There are various facilities near the theater, and if you walk a little, you can have various experiences. Although, walking that little bit is tough. I tried walking a little while stepping through the snow. "Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art" to the east was unfortunately not holding a special exhibition, only a small collection exhibition. On the first floor of the Hive Nagaoka to the south, there is the "Nagaoka City Industrial Exhibition Hall"
which you can view for free, where you can learn about various Nagaoka industries, such as the history of how the machinery and chemical industries flourished due to oil from the Higashiyama oil field, and how it developed from the Edo period through river transport on the Shinano River. Further to the south, there is a huge shopping mall called "Riverside Senshu", and it was so lively that it felt like they had everything.

While walking around the Nagaoka station area, I found that thing. You know, that thing.

Yes, a right-to-left written maintenance hole cover, that's it. No, I was surprised because I never expected to find a right-to-left one in Nagaoka. I mean, I guess I was looking for them even in Nagaoka, after all.
Now, let's just list the photos I took in Nagaoka without any particular genre.

Well, that's enough about Nagaoka. What I need to focus on now is the final performance of the Nagoya show.Unlike in Nagaoka, there are two shows on both Saturday and Sunday in Nagoya, so there's no time to walk around. I want to nail the final performance tomorrow and head back to the KUTO-10 rehearsal studio in Osaka.'The Great Adventure of the Three Great Playwrights' is also a three-city tour, so I'll be flying around! Well, not literally flying, though!
Also, there are various announcements, such as participating as a guest audience member at the Osaka Theater Festival 2026 on 2/17 and 2/19 at 18:30, the VAC advance reservation for Gekidan☆Shinkansen's next production 'Akechi-ko!' closing today, and being able to make name stickers at the HMV pop-up store for the soon-to-start Geki×Cine 'Beniki Monogatari', but first, let's do our best with 'Baby Bluff'!
