🌻 'This is the first time someone has listened to me with such passion!'
I went to a work meeting the other day.
It was an interview to introduce a local 'festival event,' and I was shocked by what the other party said to me.
'I have been interviewed by newspapers and television many times, but this is the first time someone has listened to me in such detail and with such passion!'
Some people just ask for the date, time, content, and the title of the main attraction, and then they're done.
I heard that sometimes meetings would end in just a few minutes.
What!? Seriously!?
I was so surprised.
I was stunned.
With such superficial questions,
what could you possibly understand??
Dates, times, and event summaries are no different from just receiving and looking at a single handout! You've gone to the trouble of getting the other party to give you their time, so how can you be so shallow about it?
As someone in the media myself, it made me sad...
🌻 Listening to the feelings that lie 'deep down,' not on the 'surface'
In my case, this is how I do it.
'Why' did you decide to hold this festival event?
'Why' this particular lineup?
'Which part' do you especially want people to see?
'Why' is that?
I listen to the 'background,' the 'reasons,' and the 'feelings' behind things.

After receiving their answers, I digest them myself and dig deeper into the parts that interest me or that I find fascinating!
When I listen to people, I learn things I didn't know, and it's a lot of fun (for me, anyway). My nods and reactions come naturally from me as a human being, as a matter of course.
Then, the other person will often share even deeper episodes or bits of trivia, soinstead of a superficial announcement about a 'festival event,' it becomes an introduction about 'such a wonderful event, launched by such people with such passion.'
You can't understand anything by just looking at the surface.
I always believe that the truth and reality of things lie in a much deeper place.
To get to know that, it is very important to face the other person directly as your honest self.
🌻 Human relationships are the same — external impressions are only a small part
Of course, this applies not only to work but also to human relationships.
Whether it's what your family or friends like or what their personalities are like,we tend to decide 'what kind of person they are' based on the knowledge, images, and past tendencies we have in our own minds.
But in reality, that might just be
something very superficial.
That person is cheerful!
That person is always energetic!
That person is amazing because their work and relationships are always going well!
Even if that is the impression from the outside, what about in reality? You won't know the truth unless you talk to them. And even if what they tell you is their true heart, it might not be the 'whole' story. If you judge only by what you see from the outside, misunderstandings and miscommunications are likely to arise.
That is where
'dialogue'becomes important.
🌻 True understanding is born from the desire to 'know'
Even if you can't know the other person perfectly,if you engage in careful dialogue using words that come from your own heart with the desire to know and understand them, the other person will also open their heart and respond in their own words.
When I can get close to someone and touch their inner heart, even just a little bit, I feel very warm inside.
Thank you for sharing that with me!

Communication is
deep and truly fascinating!
That is why I have continued to work as a TV director, engaging with people to create programs.
And now, I am taking on a new challenge in coaching, where dialogue with others is more important than anything else.
🌻Would you like to discover the "feelings deep inside" you as well?
What is your personality like?
—I am the type who is serious and works steadily.
If you take that at face value, you won't understand anything beyond it.
By looking deeper—at what lies behind the words, the reasons for those thoughts, and the events or background that shaped them—the contours become clearer. And the unique story that belongs only to that person begins to emerge.
You cannot know the feelings in someone's heart unless you talk to them.
And,your own true feelings are actually difficult to notice on your own.
When you realize your own "deep-seated feelings and story" through dialogue, you will mysteriously start to see the next step you need to take.
