My name is Ponkan Matsumoto, and I am an essay manga artist.
When I was pregnant with my first child,
I developed something like the boss of morning sickness called
【Hyperemesis Gravidarum】,
and I was vomiting day and night, nearly dying from dehydration.
When I drew that experience in a manga,
I received many sympathetic voices from fellow morning sickness warriors,
which allowed me to debut as an essay manga artist.

I had hoped to have two children,
but because the morning sickness was far scarier than childbirth, parenting, or anything else,
I couldn't easily take the step toward a second child,
and then I was diagnosed with cancer at age 34...

The cancer progressed quickly, and at one point I decided to focus on treatment
and gave up on having a second child,
but through various turns of events, miraculously, without delaying my treatment,
I was able to freeze a fertilized egg,
and two years later, I had that egg transferred back into my womb.
It implanted safely, and now I am just praying for a healthy birth.
I had severe morning sickness with my second pregnancy as well.
However, this time I relied on the overseas morning sickness medication 【Bonjesta】 (2,000 yen per pill),
and used every person, thing, money, and resource I could (mostly money)
to somehow get through it.

It was my first pregnancy in 8 years after battling cancer,
and since it was also a geriatric pregnancy,
I was quickly diagnosed with gestational diabetes as well,
