A Former Hairdresser Reincarnated into Another World (Blog)!? Part 8: Daily Life Edition #03 - The Story of How the Kamakura Fireworks Festival Was Canceled and We Enjoyed Summer in Ueno Instead
Hello and good evening!
It's hot again today, isn't it? I wish it would cool down soon.
So, today's note is a daily life entry about how the Kamakura Fireworks Festival on 7/18 was canceled due to strong winds, so we enjoyed summer in Ueno instead!
They had tweeted about the cancellation on X (formerly Twitter) the day before on the 17th, but I hadn't seen it! Lol
Apparently, the winds were too strong. 😢 It was definitely windy that day, though.

I had gone before the pandemic and the atmosphere was amazing, so I was really looking forward to it. It was a shame. 🥺🥺
Well, it can't be helped! So we decided to go somewhere else!
It was 13:30 when we changed plans, so we thought we'd go for some day drinking somewhere, and that's how we landed in Ueno!
I was surprised at how crowded it was even though it was daytime!!
I wanted to go to a place called Daitoryo, but it was full, so that was a no-go. 🥺
But we managed to get into a nearby skewer-style izakaya!
It was hot outside, so it felt so cool inside! I can't drink beer, so I started with a lemon sour 🍋. It was sweet and tart, and it was the best. ✌
For skewers, we ordered:
・Mochi
・Pork belly
・Asparagus
I ordered food that felt a bit like summer, lol.
I think I had about 4 drinks in total! I'm not good with alcohol, so my face was bright red.
The AC was blasting, and it was so cold that we retreated from the shop! We warmed up outside for a bit. ♨
After a while, we thought we wanted to go somewhere with all-you-can-drink and eat some yakitori, so we headed to the next place!!
The all-you-can-drink was 980 yen for 120 minutes, which was quite cheap! Here, I had:
・Lemon sour: 3 drinks
・Cola: 1 drink
And for food:
・Skirt steak: 2 skewers
・Beef tongue: 2 skewers
・Pork heart: 2 skewers
・Liver (a la carte)
・French fries
We ordered those!
I always eat fries when I go to an izakaya!! They fill you up and they're delicious. ✌🥔
It was all-you-can-drink so I should have had more,
but it was way too cold here compared to my old shop, so I couldn't drink much at all😢
The friend I went with had a birthday two days ago,
so I treated her😏
It was cold so we left the shop
and took a walk around Shinobazu Pond in Ueno Park!!
And then, we found some food stalls!
We couldn't go to the fireworks festival,
but I feel like we managed to do something summery!
I wanted to try the shooting gallery,
but the line was so long I couldn't do it at all😮💨
We bought lemon sours and beer at the stalls
and sat down to drink and chat away--
It was so much fun that the time just flew by--
We didn't make it to the fireworks, but I'm glad we got to enjoy summer!
Summer has only just begun this year, so I'm going to get my revenge!
