Persea|Americana|Forest's...
This morning, some Kumazemi cicadas arrived on the trunk of the dogwood tree in front of the house. When I looked closely, I found three of them.

Excuse me, were you in the middle of breakfast? 😅
The other evening, I saw a larva walking proudly right in the middle of the road.

It looked like it was about to get run over, so I picked it up and moved it to the dogwood tree.
I'm glad I noticed it before it got run over 😊
The larva felt like a gummy candy.
Could the Kumazemi from this morning be the larva I rescued?
Ah! I'm not thinking about a 'cicada's repayment' or anything like that at all! 🫣
Well, anyway,
Persea 'Americana'
Do you know it?
Its Japanese name is'Waninashi' (Alligator Pear)It is called.
I'm sure you have all seen, touched, or eaten the fruit, right?
Here is the seed ⬇️

It's a sphere about 4cm in diameter.
I've decided I want to try growing this guy.
The answer is,
'Forest's butter' 🥑.
It was an avocado seed!
Or rather, it's widely known as an avocado, but I didn't know its real name (scientific name) until I looked it up.
I was like, 'Oh, so it's called Americana' 😙
The other day, I had an irresistible craving for a tuna and avocado bowl, so I bought an avocado at the local supermarket. Since I leave avocados to ripen until they're ready to eat, I bought the other ingredients yesterday.
And then, I thought, if I bought an avocado, I should try growing it from the seed!
I enjoyed the tuna and avocado bowl. It was very delicious 🙏
Next time, I'm thinking of having it with salmon and sliced onions.
Then, I washed the extracted seed with a sponge containing dish soap to scrub off any remaining fruit pulp and left it overnight.
This morning, I shaved off a little bit of the bottom (the base) so it can absorb water.

I peeled off the thin skin from the shaved area so it wouldn't hinder growth.

After that, I wrapped the bottom side in cotton soaked with water and put it in a plastic bag to encourage rooting.
I'll leave the bag open, not sealed, to prevent mold.

I put it in a container to keep it stable.
After that, I'll keep it in a bright place away from direct sunlight.
I'll check how dry the cotton is and add water. I guess I'll water it about every 3 to 4 days.
It seems it will take about 2 to 3 weeks to root.
I'll report back once it roots!
Well then, see you later 👋
