After Finishing Chapter 1, What I Most Want to Convey Now | The Thoughts Behind "Luna"
On the night I finished writing Chapter 1, I was looking up at the moon.
Strangely enough, last night was the Flower Moon (the full moon in May ๐).
It felt too perfect to be a coincidence.
Thinking that, I held onto a single question.
What is it that I want to deliver from here on out?
Now that I have finished writing Chapter 1, one thing has become clear to me.
Today, I would like to write about that.
If there is anyone out there right now who has stopped in the middle of their life or is feeling lostโ
I would be happy if this article could become a small light that makes you feel, "I am not alone."
What I saw after writing Chapter 1
In Chapter 1, I looked back on my life so far, focusing on the two years I spent at a health services facility for the elderly.
While writing, many forgotten memories came back to me.
The worries of those days.
The people I met.
The future I wanted to support.
And the realization that I was the one being supported all along.
At first, I intended to organize my past.
But in reality, it was different.
Rather than digging up the past,
I think I was returning to my starting point.
It was by no means a step backward.
Rather, it was a time that served as a springboard to move forward.
There is no such thing as wasted time in lifeโ
That is what I believe now.
Of course, there were times when I felt I was taking a detour.
There were failures and setbacks, too.
In the midst of them, I couldn't see any meaning.
But looking back, it was precisely because of those times that I met certain people and learned certain things.
That is why I think this way.
Even detours have meaning.
Failures, too, can become future assets.
Perhaps Chapter One was a time to reclaim such a past.
But life is still ongoing.
I want to keep walking from here on out.
The Meaning Behind "Luna"
Actually, there is a reason for the name "Luna".
I named it "Luna" after the Latin word for moon, Luna.
I prefer the moon to the sun.
The sun shines brightly and powerfully upon the world.
But the moon is different.
Instead of stepping forward to shine, it gently stays by your side even in the dark night,
delivering light.
I have always been drawn to that way of being, like the moon.
Perhaps that is why I always find myself looking up at the sky.
The feeling that even if we are not here together, we are connected if we look up at the sky.
The feeling that even if we are apart, we are being watched over.
I think I project those feelings onto the moon.
That is why I was a little surprised that the night I finished writing Chapter 1 happened to be the Flower Moon.
It felt too perfect to be a coincidence (laughs).
Of course, I don't mean to attach any special significance to it.
But sometimes in life, there are mysterious timings like this.
That night, I thought once again.
I don't want to be the sun.
I want to be like the moon.
It's okay if I'm not someone who pulls others forward strongly.
I want to be a presence that can gently illuminate someone's path at night.
That is the thought I have put into 'Luna'.
What the place called note means to me
To be honest, the initial entry point was loneliness.
Parting with a loved one.
Parting with my beloved cat.
Before I knew it, the time I spent carrying things on my own had increased.
So, perhaps at first, it was an outlet for my feelings.
However, as I wrote, things began to change little by little.
Note has now become...
a place to re-examine and discover my own way of living for me.
For a long time, I had been thinking somewhere inside.
I wondered, where in this world am I walking?
It might sound a bit dramatic.
But sometimes, while living, I would feel...
'Where am I? Who am I?'
There were times when I felt that way.
Note has become a place where I can put such questions into words and re-understand myself.
By writing, my heart is organized.
The past connects.
And, I think about my own existence once again.
Who am I?
What do I want to value as I live?
I feel like I am searching for those answers while I write.
That is why I am not someone who has a complete answer.
Rather, even now, I am in the middle of searching for the answer.
But maybe that's okay.
Because everyone is in the middle of their life journey.
That is precisely why I believe there is meaning in connecting with someone through words.
What I want to write about in Chapter 2
Chapter 1 was a time to look back on the past.
However, things will be a little different from here on out.
In Chapter 2, I want to write about myself living in the present.
The things I am challenging myself with.
The things I am struggling with.
Loneliness and hope.
And the small lights I have found along the way in life.
Illness, relationships, caregiving, family, workโ.
When you are alive, there are truly all sorts of walls to face.
โปI have been writing a wall series, but... (laughs)
I am also in the middle of that journey.
So I cannot say anything arrogant.
But if there is someone out there carrying suffering,
I hope they can feel that they are not alone.
I hope their heart can feel even a little lighter.
That is my wish.
The moon says nothing.
It just quietly illuminates the night sky.
In that same way,
I want to write words that stay close to you like the moon.
And, I want to keep moving forward while searching for my own answers.
Chapter one ends here.
But life is still in progress.
I will continue to write the story that follows from here.
Thank you for reading until the end.
If you also have thoughts you couldn't tell anyone, or memories of looking up at the night skyโI would be happy if we could talk here again๐
