☕ The kindness of not saying 'You can rely on me'
Whoosh.
When someone says 'You can rely on me',
my heart feels all soft and squishy,
but when they say 'You can decide for yourself',
why do I freeze for a second? 🤣
Like, you get that 'Wait, did my Wi-Fi just cut out?' look on your face, right? Lol
☕ Is dependency really that bad?
I mean,
If someone said,
'I can't do this without you', how would that make you feel?
……It’s kind of nice, right?
Yeah, maybe even more than just 'kind of'? 🤣
Self-esteem, supercharged.
But then,
what if that happened every single day?
・Decisions, all on me
・Emotional processing, all on me
・Their life problems, an infinite loop
Wait a minute.
Before you know it, haven't you become a 'human portable charger'? 🔋🤣
☕ Let's sort this out.
Is asking for advice dependency? → No.
Thinking things through together? → No.
Showing vulnerability? → That's not it either.
Leaning on someone? → Actually, that's healthy.
What's the difference?
The issue of who's holding the steering wheel.
Dependency is,
'You do the driving'.
Not dependency is,
'Can you sit in the passenger seat? But I'm the one driving'.
This is super important.
☕Business Edition.
“Please take me to success!”
This, you know,
has a bit of a Disney attraction vibe.
Like, “I’ll reach the goal just by riding along” 🤣
But in reality,
success is muscle training you have to do by walking yourself.
You can get advice.
But you have to do the squats yourself.
(Muscles never betray you. Suddenly getting all athletic lol)
☕Romance Edition.
“I can’t live without you!”
It’s romantic, right?
It is.
But you know.
That’s like,
a laptop that shuts down the moment you pull the power cord.
Isn’t that scary? 🤣
“I can live on my own. But I want to be with you.”
This is stronger.
It’s like two people with full batteries holding hands.
This is the strongest.

☕Self-critique here.
I’m the type who tends to understand how people feel.
I can sense the temperature of the silence.
That’s a common thing for the HSP crowd, right? (*´艸`*)
So, I leave a hint.
Then, I wait.
Then, I watch over them.
Then, before I know it, I’m about to carry their burden.
……No, stop acting like a “delivery center for emotions” on your own 🤣
Being able to understand something,
and taking it on, are two different things.
A big discovery I’ve made recently.
☕Kindness that doesn't foster dependency can look a bit cold.
Sometimes people say,
'Wait, you won't help me?'
But that actually means,
'I believe in you'.
Not coddling doesn't mean
pushing someone away.
Not coddling equals trust.
☕The benefits of not fostering dependency.
Supporting each other stops being an 'obligation'.
It's not about 'I have to,' but
'I want to.'
This is what makes relationships last.
Dependency is based on anxiety.
Self-reliance is based on trust.
Which one would you rather build a connection on?
☕Lastly
I don't have zero desire to be relied upon, either.
Actually, I do. I have it just like anyone else.
If someone says, 'You're the only one I can count on,'
you feel a little flattered, right? lol
But you know.
You hold the steering wheel yourself.
And you drive with the person who is by your side.
Kindness that doesn't encourage dependency isn't cold.
It is
a blueprint for staying together for a long time.

☕ From the cafe owner.
Dependency, you see,
has a sense of security like sweet hot milk.
It's warm, it's fluffy, and
it makes you think, 'I'm fine just staying here.'
But you know.
Life is a bit boring
if you just sit on a cafe sofa forever.
Because you walk, the scenery changes.
Because you choose, it becomes a story.
In this cafe,
I don't take anyone's steering wheel.
But,
if you're tired, I'll pull out a chair.
I'll serve coffee.
I'll listen to your complaints.
But in the end,
I'll push you on your back and say, 'Off you go.'
Because, you see.
The sight of you walking on your own two feet
is the coolest thing.
Kindness that doesn't encourage dependency
isn't cold.
It is
a slightly more mature blueprint
for staying together for a long time.💕
☕ Today, too, let's hold our own steering wheels.
And when you're tired, come by again.
Because Ayappe Cafe is
not a 'place to lean on',
but a 'place to recharge and run again'.
