[Announcement] My second Kindle book is scheduled for release in late June!
Hello, this is Kindle author Saito.
I am planning to release my second Kindle book in late June.
The title is
“Barista FIRE: The Story of a Salaryman Laid Off at 43 Aiming for FIRE” (tentative title)
This book is based on the content I previously serialized on note titled “Introduction to Barista FIRE from Near-50,” and has been restructured into a story format.
FIRE is often thought of as something for the high-income, high-net-worth crowd, but I want to convey through this story the possibility of
a realistic FIRE where you “gain freedom without strain while working” = “Barista FIRE”
.
The reason for choosing a “story format”
My first book, “Bookkeeping Level 3 Success Story,” was also produced in a “story format.”
I received feedback from readers saying it was “easy to read” and “entertaining and enjoyable.”
I personally enjoy business books in a “story format,” so I decided to use the same style this time. Above all, it is fun for me as an author because I get excited thinking about what will happen next while writing it.
Characters: “My Past Self and a New Mentor”
For this book, I have set the protagonist based on my own past experiences.
In my previous work, I created the story based on “myself in my 50s.”
This time, I recalled myself at “43 years old” and made that the protagonist.
The protagonist is laid off at 43, starts over as a part-time nursing care worker, sees their income plummet, and lives an anxious life with no clear future.
The story depicts them taking on the challenge of a Barista FIRE lifestyle after an encounter with their future self. Through conversations with the characters, I designed it so that readers can naturally think, “What would I do in this situation?”
And while I featured “myself 10 years in the future” as a mentor in my first book, “Bookkeeping Level 3 Success Story,” I plan to introduce a “new mentor” this time (stay tuned).
A book written with the feeling of “wanting to reach my past self”
I wrote this work as a message to my past self at “43,” who felt the difficulty of living as a middle-aged salaryman.
There are many books about FIRE, but I believe I have differentiated this book in the following aspects:
・FIRE that can be aimed for even from your 40s
・Highly reproducible FIRE that can be done without massive assets
I wrote this book with the hope that it will reach those who, like me, are struggling with their life as a salaryman in their 40s.
A message I want to deliver to my readers
The theme of this book is "Realistic FIRE you can aim for in 10 years, even starting in your 40s."
I hope this book will be read by people like the following:
・People in their 40s to 50s who feel anxious about their future work and finances
・People who are tired of continuing to work as full-time employees
・People who think, "I'm interested in FIRE, but it's impossible for me"
・People who are dealing with overlapping life concerns such as family, work, and retirement
・People who want tips on how to live a rich life without overexerting themselves
I want people struggling with such worries to know that there is a path called "Barista FIRE."
"Barista FIRE" is not about aiming to become a millionaire or wealthy, but a lifestyle of "working only as much as you need for yourself and using the remaining time for your own benefit."
You don't have to exhaust yourself working full-time every day.
It is possible to design a life that functions even by working just a few days a week.
All you need for that is the "ability to envision your ideal life" and "a little ingenuity and execution."
I hope the concept of Barista FIRE will become a support for many people living in the coming era.
What is the progress of the production?
The manuscript is almost finished. It is currently 54,000 characters long and consists of 8 chapters.
As for the cover, I finished it by hand using Canva, just like my previous work.
I am currently in the process of final checks for the manuscript and cover.
Moving forward, I will proceed with the registration process on KDP and prepare for the release.
Also, I am planning a paperback release this time as well.
(Seeing Kindle authors Tosshi-san and Miriiho-san working hard inspired me. I'll do my best!)
