The Confessors #WeeklyShortShortNote
It must not continue any longer.
That is what the world thought.
Both sides' arguments prioritized their own interests and failed to resonate with the people.
Talks between the leaders were held many times. However, neither side would bend their stance, and the people grew weary of the constant exchange of accusations. Even mediation by the president of a superpower ended in failure, entangled in the hidden desires of their own nation. The world sank back into resignation and apathy.
In the midst of this, a certain country made a proposal at the United Nations.
“Let us each take on a ‘Confessor.’ One person from each side. Our country will research and appoint representatives to confess their true feelings, and in a setting we provide, both sides will confess their true intentions, letting them resonate with and convince their respective leaders.”
The world pinned a glimmer of hope on the methods of this mysterious country.
On the day, the representatives from both sides were women. At their request, the venue was an amusement park.
“That child of mine wet herself on the roller coaster.”
“My child got sick and threw up on the spinning teacups.”
“And now, look at them.”
“I know, acting all high and mighty.”
“Truly.”
The confessions, or rather the exposés, of the Confessors were broadcast to the entire world.
The world was saved by the confessions of mothers.

I participated in Tarahakani-san's weekly short-short project with this week's theme, 'Confessor'.
The world is complex and bizarre. That is precisely why we need the simplest of heroes.
