[HSP Parenting] Children taking the Shinkansen alone! The day I despaired over their tearful growth spurt and my husband's aging [HSP Hitorimichi Family Parenting & Life Diary] Essay
Hello, this is Hitorimichi🐱
Currently, our house is eerily quiet.
That is because,
the children who always create chaos are absent.
Believe it or not, those
"it took 30 minutes just to enter Tully's"
super-cautious HSP brothers have
ridden the Shinkansen all by themselves,
and set off on a journey to Tokyo!
Even though this should be a happy milestone,
for some reason, mysterious liquid is leaking from my eyes...
Or so I thought,
but my husband next to me
was crying for a different reason.
🐾 ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ 🐾
🌪 Currently, our house is in an abnormal state (silence)
No one is screaming.
No one has the YouTube volume set to MAX.
There are no mysterious block weapons (LEGO) on the floor.
(You know, the ones that hurt when you step on them😭)
Right now, the Hitorimichi household is dead silent.
The children have gone to play at
their grandparents' house in Tokyo
for 3 days and 2 nights.
And what's more,
without their parents.
Just the children, all by themselves.

☕ The "Tully's 30-minute marathon" from just half a year ago
Can you believe it?
When it comes to our
HSP (non-HSS type) + ASD + ADHD
children,
they are the type who would tap on a stone bridge so hard it shatters,
the super-cautious type.
Just half a year ago.
It took them 30 minutes just to enter a Tully's they were visiting for the first time,
✅ What kind of people are inside
✅ What is on the menu
✅ Is there an escape route
and so on...
Those children, who spent 30 minutes staring from the outside with the observational skills of a bird researcher, have done this.
👇 Back then, Tully's was an impregnable fortress 🏰

🚗 Children who have never left their 'starter village' in a car-dependent society
We live in a
completely car-dependent area.
Everywhere we go is door-to-door.
Even going to the convenience store is by car.
Train stations are just
giant objects we only see a few times a year.
In other words, for my children,
riding trains or the Shinkansen without parents
is
like storming the Demon King's castle
with only their starting equipment—
a super hard-mode quest.
These are the super-cautious HSP brothers
who couldn't even open the door to a Tully's.
Why did they suddenly
'We're going to Tokyo!'
start saying that?
🐾 ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ 🐾
📱 The trigger for the adventure was a 'classmate's LINE message'
It all started during the three-day weekend last week.
My older child's smartphone pinged.
When I looked, it was a group LINE from classmates.
Just arrived in Tokyo!
You country bumpkins will
definitely get lost at Tokyo Station lol
It was a message with a selfie
(and a bit of teasing?)
from a classmate who had gone to Tokyo alone
ahead of everyone else
during spring break.
My HSP older child saw that.
Usually, they would just say 'meh' and move on...
but this day was different.
👦 ...Mom
🐱 Hmm?
👦 We're going to Tokyo too! We'll go to Grandma and Grandpa's house on our own!
Whaaaaaaat!?
Wait a minute!
Even when you're with your parents,
you're the type to check every 10 minutes
worrying about what to do if you lose your Shinkansen ticket, right!?
But their eyes were serious.
Their classmate's words
secreted a mysterious
spirit of defiance (adrenaline).
🐾 ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ 🐾
🚄 Execution! 'Tokyo Great Adventure Mission'
And then, the morning of departure arrived.
Checking their tickets over and over again,
✅ What if we miss the train?
✅ What if we need to go to the bathroom?
The brothers repeated these mental simulations
about 100 times.
On their backs were backpacks as heavy as rocks.
(The contents were probably 80% clothes and emergency snacks to fill their anxiety 🍫🍞)
The moment I saw them walk through the ticket gate,
my tear ducts
collapsed at a Niagara Falls level 😭

And a few hours later.
We arrived safely!
It's so much fun!
Along with a LINE message,
a photo of them with beaming smiles was sent.
Amazing.
They really made it.
The same kids who couldn't even
open the door to Tully's.
A few months for a child
is like 10 years of evolution
for an adult, isn't it?
More than I, as a parent, realize,
children are strong and resilient.
I'm happy.
I'm incredibly happy.
……But.
In the suddenly empty living room,
I realized something.
...I'm so lonely 🥺
🐾 ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ 🐾
💣 Two adults left behind (and a new tragedy)
A holiday with just the two of us, no kids.
It's been a while since it's been this quiet, hasn't it?
What should we do...
We were completely like Villagers A and B in an RPG
who had lost their purpose 🫠
Then, my beloved husband
(who has ADHD with hyperactivity and impulsivity)
stood up.
Since we finally have some time, I'm going to the barber! 💈
My husband has been worried about his gray hair lately.
He had been trying to manage without dyeing it until now, but...
The kids aren't here, so I'm going to go get a makeover and look younger!
With that, he headed out in high spirits
for a cut and color.

A few hours later.
I'm home!
I feel so refreshed!
With his neat, short hair
and perfectly dyed locks,
Oh, didn't he look a bit younger? ✨
...But that thought didn't last long.
My husband started scrubbing his face
hard
in front of the bathroom mirror.
🧑🦰 Hmm? Wait, this...
👩 What's wrong?
🧑🦰 No, there's some hair dye on my temples and forehead. It won't come off.
Looking closely, there was indeed
a faint brown shadow.
My husband
applied soap and scrubbed with a towel.
Then scrubbed some more.
Scrubbing as if it were his sworn enemy.
🧑🦰 Huh... This won't come off... Seriously...
My husband stares intently into the mirror.
Then, a few seconds of speechlessness.

Then my husband said:
🧑🦰 This... isn't dye...
👩 Huh?
🧑🦰 ...It's a sunspot...😱
🐾 ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ 🐾
👓 A 'natural blur filter' called naked eyes
That's right.
My husband usually doesn't wear his glasses
while at home.
In other words, the face he had been seeing in the bathroom mirror until now was
due to his poor eyesight
a natural skin-smoothing blur filter
applied to it.
This time, with his hair cut and looking fresh,
he put on his glasses,
and in the bright bathroom, he
stared directly at his own face in 8K super high-definition resolution.
🧑🦰 You've got to be kidding me... Did I have this many sunspots on my face...?
My husband collapses in the bathroom.
The man who went out to look younger, only to return having had the reality of aging slapped onto his face, was right there.
🤣

🌱 Growing children, aging parents
Riding the Shinkansen,
going on a grand adventure to an unknown world,
and growing at a tremendous speed, my children🚄✨
Meanwhile,
in front of the mirror, struggling with dye (sunspots) that won't come offand quietly accepting his aging, my husband🍂👴
The contrast in life is just too strong💦
My heart, which had been feeling sentimental
because the kids were gone
and I felt lonely,
turned into laughter
after seeing my husband mutter,
"I wonder if I can erase this sunspot with an eraser."🤣

Even without the kids,
the Hitorimichi household is still chaotic.
Thank you so much
for reading until the end🐱💖
By the way,
what kind of comforting words
should I say to my husband,
who is still feeling down in front of the mirror?🤣
If you have any recommended words
or items to hide age spots,
please let me know in the comments!🙏
If you give me a like💖 or a comment💬,
maybe my husband's age spots will fade a little...
maybe🤣 (they won't)
Well then, see you again
in the next chaos!🐱🐾
