Practicing Not Dwelling on Unpleasant Things
There are times when you just can't help but dwell on unpleasant things, aren't there?
You know it's better not to dwell on them, but you just can't help it.
In times like those, instead of trying to forget the unpleasant thing itself, try accepting it.
You might think it's impossible because it's unpleasant, but you just need to empathize with yourself.
Just accept it as it is by saying, "That was unpleasant, wasn't it?"
For example, if there's a piece of clothing you want and you don't buy it, the thought "I want that" stays in your head forever. I think everyone has experienced that.
But once you get it, you feel satisfied and sometimes forget about it. Like when you buy something and never use it even once, haha.
It's similar to this; you end up dwelling on unpleasant emotions precisely because you try to forget them or try not to think about them.
However, if you accept them completely as they are, you might find you can let them go easily.
You won't be able to do this without practicing it over and over again,
but once you can do it, life will become much easier, so give it a try.
