A lesson from my mother
Every once in a while, in conversation, my mother would say,
"Humans are just cancer to the Earth."
She would say things like that...
Perhaps it was her perspective, born from her love for things on a grand scale, like the universe and dinosaurs.
Come to think of it, I used to listen to Kiyoshiro and The Blue Hearts with her, too.
This power word, which would cut through a daughter's serious worries right at the root!
Since becoming an adult, it has gradually taken effect in a good way.
Humans are just cancer to the Earth.
No matter how much of a good person you pretend to be, in the end, you can only live by destroying the environment.
From a young age, I grew up with a vague sense of the foolishness of humanity.
The contradiction in activities to improve the world
Nowadays, there are many wonderful people working for peace and the environment.
But to take it to the extreme,
there are moments when I come to my senses and think,
"The very fact that humans are alive is the cause."
When I think about it that way, no matter how noble an activity may seem, it feels like pushing against an open door or trying to drive a nail into bran.
But if someone doesn't do it, nothing will change. It can't be helped, because we are human.
That feeling works just right for me.
Don't expect too much of yourself
"I have to try harder"
"I have to do it perfectly"
The more you expect, the harder things become.
By not expecting, you avoid getting hurt unnecessarily.
That is why you can take on challenges.
Doing things casually isn't about being reckless; it's about leaving room for yourself.
Whether it's a movie poster or a business card design,
don't you feel the sense of style in the negative space?

Live seriously.
But live casually, without being uptight.
Within that 'just right' balance, there is freedom and peace of mind.
My mother's words were extreme, but they have become an important sense of balance for me.
