Water Blue Is the Color of the Sky

Water blue—
the color of the sky
at the beginning of autumn.

On the blue paint,
I load my brush
with plenty of water
and drop in a touch of white.

Softly,
it spreads—
like a drifting cloud.

Under the glaring sun,
even a weary heart
seems to find
a moment’s rest.

Such is
the color of the sky
between the seasons.
