Lightly/ [Tanabata Stride] Weekly Short Short Note
Saho-chan, a junior colleague, is unusually checking the clock every now and then. Usually, she stays focused on her work until someone tells her otherwise. But the moment the workday ends, she stands up from her desk.
"Excuse me for leaving early."
She heads toward the lockers in a hurry.
When my colleague Misaki and I go to the lockers, Saho-chan, who should be in a rush, is still there. She is carefully applying makeup. Her outfit is also more stylish than usual.
"Good work today."
Saho-chan leaves the locker room.
"It's a 'Tanabata stride,' you know."
I tilt my head.
"What's that?"
"It means your stride gets wider because you're eager to see your long-distance boyfriend."
"Is that a real phrase?"
I said while getting ready to go home.
"It's a phrase I came up with watching you. Your speed heading home when you're going to see your boyfriend is incredible, after all."
I used to be in a long-distance relationship too.
"Well, in your case, it was more of a sprint than a Tanabata stride, I suppose."
As I get closer to home, my steps feel lighter. Even if it's not a long-distance relationship, my stride might be getting wider.
Because I get to see my husband when I get home.
I participated in this
project.
