To your dark... ~And then the beef bowl is served~ / Short Story
The blond young man, while reading a guidebook on the ship's deck, decided that the first thing he would eat in Japan would be a beef bowl.
“Gyudon, namimori.”
His preparation was perfect.
After disembarking, the young man immediately headed toward a beef bowl restaurant near the port, his heart swelling with anticipation.
He entered the restaurant at the same time as three customers who appeared to be Japanese.
Although his preparation was perfect, being able to see how the Japanese ordered up close gave the young man a sense of relief.
The first customer sat down and ordered in a manner that seemed very accustomed.
“Beef bowl, regular, extra green onions.”
“...what?”
Gyudon, nami,
......naked all Mayday?”
The young man was a little confused.
He felt he had studied Japanese culture to some extent. The eight million gods, the national character of cherishing food.
However, there was no information about everyone getting naked on May Day. And it was when ordering a beef bowl, at that...
Could it be some kind of religious incantation...?
Understanding it in that way, he listened to the second person's order.
“Beef bowl, large, extra green onions.”
...OK, OK. He knew 'large'. It was big size.
And as expected, 'naked all Mayday'.
This must be a mysterious spell of the East.
It is a religious poem regarding food, especially the act of 'receiving a life' in the form of beef.
One must chant it when ordering.
The young man wanted to show respect to the country of Japan.
That was why he did not want to get the etiquette wrong.
And then, the third person's order.
“Uh, beef bowl, regular size,
To your dark... naked all Mayday...”
The young man opened his eyes wide and quickly took a note.
To your dark. Everyone gets naked on May Day.
Honestly, he couldn't understand the meaning, but he knew this avant-garde poem was not something lighthearted.
After all, it was 'To your dark'.
Perhaps this was the formal poem.
The previous two must have chanted a slightly simplified version, that must be it.
And then it was the young man's turn.
While nervous, he spoke with a solemn expression.
“Gyudon, namimori,
...To your dark... naked all Mayday...”
“Coming right up! One regular, extra sauce, extra green onions! Please wait a moment!”
Thank goodness...
I have been accepted by the mysterious country of Japan...
The young man, with a bright and cheerful feeling, tasted the beef bowl, which was a little wetter than the one he had seen in his guidebook.
I will try participating in Haratokei-san's 'Three-Line Dialogue Story' without being discouraged.
I think I managed to use a more direct approach this time compared to the last. Though it lacks depth, haha.
Also, I sincerely hope that the blonde young man's trip to Japan turns out to be a wonderful experience.
