As AI content increases, do 'humans' become the value? Thoughts based on statements by the head of Instagram

Hello, I'm penniless.

We live in an era where images, text, and videos can all be created with AI.

There is no doubt that it is convenient.
But on the other hand, this question also arises.

If anyone can post using AI,
why should I follow 'you'?

Regarding this question, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, said something interesting.

As AI content increases,
the value of human creators may actually increase.

At first glance, it sounds like the opposite.
But looking at the current posting environment, I felt it hit the nail on the head.

As AI increases, 'who created it' becomes important

Until now, on social media,

  • beautiful images

  • well-crafted text

  • highly polished videos

were thought to be strong.

But such things can now be created with considerable precision even by AI.

In other words, it has become difficult to differentiate based on high quality alone is what it means.

When that happens, the points that get noticed change.

  • Who created it

  • What kind of experience did the words come from

  • Is it really what that person felt

  • Why are they posting that

From now on, the 'outline of the creator' may become more important than the information itself.

Content that is prone to losing value

What is likely to become weak in the AI era is
things that sound the same no matter who says them.

For example,

  • success rules that look like something seen somewhere before

  • general theories without personal experience

  • posts that are just short summaries of news

  • text that is just AI output with minor adjustments

Of course, it is not wrong. But with just that,

'Why should I hear that from you?'

is likely to be the response.

As content mass-produced by AI increases, this difference should become even more noticeable.

Conversely, things that increase in value

So, what will become strong?

I thought there were three things.

1. Things actually done

Rather than 'I recommend this,' 'This is what happened when I tried it myself' is stronger.

Not just successes, but failures also become value.

2. The process along the way

Rather than the finished story,

  • Results not yet in

  • Hesitating

  • Trial and error

People are actually more interested in these kinds of ongoing processes.

SNS is becoming less of a place to show only finished products.

3. Reasons for decisions

Rather than what you chose,

why you chose it.

This is where your individuality shines through.

Even if you use the same AI tools,
the usage, purpose, and priorities differ from person to person.

That difference is what makes you unique.

It's not that people who don't use AI will win

I don't want there to be any misunderstanding here.

I think the ones who will be strong from now on are not
those who don't use AI,

but those who use AI without erasing themselves.

I believe that.

AI is quite convenient.

  • Information organization

  • Drafting structure

  • Title ideas

  • Image creation

  • Script writing

You should feel free to use these parts more and more.

In return, there are things that humans must do.

  • What you felt

  • What you tried

  • What you were confused about

  • Where you failed

AI cannot take over these parts for you.

AI helps with broadcasting. But,
it cannot create the reason for broadcasting.

I think this line is important.

I myself am testing exactly this.

I am currently using AI to

  • write notes

  • create images

  • organize social media posts

  • create short videos

and I am testing these things every day.

Honestly, if you use AI, the appearance becomes quite polished.

However, if you polish it too much,
it can become unclear whose content it is.

So, from now on, I want to leave behind more than just perfection, but also

  • actual numbers

  • what I learned from trying

  • what I failed at

  • how my thinking changed along the way

I want to leave more of these behind.

Even if you get help from AI with writing,
you cannot leave the life that serves as the source material to AI.

This feeling seems like it will become increasingly important from here on out.

3 things to check before posting

These are the three things I want to be conscious of when posting in the AI era.

1. Does it include my own experience?

It can be small.
Just having 'I did this,' 'I was confused,' or 'I failed' makes a difference.

2. Does it include my own judgment?

Instead of just lining up information,
include how you thought about it.

3. Is there a part that would remain even without AI?

  • your own numbers

  • your own emotions

  • your own conclusions

  • your own sense of discomfort

If any of these are included, your post will truly become your own.

Summary

As AI content increases,
it does not mean that human value will disappear.

Rather, from now on,

being someone people want to keep following

will become more valuable.

Creating things beautifully will become a prerequisite.
What will be looked at beyond that is

  • what kind of life you are living

  • what you are trying out

  • what kind of failures you are experiencing

  • what you are thinking

.

That is why I will
not have AI replace me, but

use AI to deliver my own experiences.

I intend to continue experimenting with this approach.
