A Story of Burning Away
From the moment I wake up until just before I fall asleep,
literally around the clock,
I am thinking about that person all the time.
Ever since I met that person,
my feelings have been rising and falling.
Even though I want to see them,
when I do, I am devastated.
That person is natural, without any pretense.
They don't hide their weaknesses or their flaws; they are unpretentious, carefree, and just as they are.
What that person says is deep and thought-provoking,
making me realize just how superficial and shallow a person I am.
I look back and regret how I only speak with light, fluffy words.
That person is broad-minded, calm, kind, and has a firm core; they possess the courage, the words, and the drive to confront the absurdities of people and the world head-on.
That person is strong.
I am helplessly drawn to that strength, but
at the same time,
it also makes me feel helplessly pained and miserable.
That person is strong.
A strength so intense that if I get too close, I will be scorched in an instant.
Even if I want to get closer, they are far away.
Even if I want to touch them, they are far away.
Even if I try not to think about them,
the more I try not to think about them,
I think about them again immediately,
and they become even more distant.
It's like a wild intuition,
or perhaps an instinct,
that if I get close to that person, I will be rapidly drawn in,
and my body and soul will be destroyed.
