Strategy Diary Vol. 6: The Blue Mage's (Daughter) Good Fortune and the Deadly Battle in the Forbidden Dungeon 'Ben-Key' - Freelance 10

After finishing the boss battle known as yesterday's interview, the Hero (me) finally caught a breath at the inn (my home).
One of my party members passed by me with light steps.

My daughter, Job: Blue Mage.

Today is right in the middle of a three-day weekend.
She says she is going to a training ground called 'Spo-cha' with her friends.

'Have a good time. Oh, and no pocket money today.'

It's not because my balance is low.
I decided that she, who possesses the 'Ultimate Gold' known as New Year's money, doesn't need any pity (rare small change) from the current Hero.

'Okay!'
The Blue Mage dashed out into the field in high spirits.
Today was supposed to be a peaceful side-quest episode... as a parent, it should have been a calm day to relax.

However, in the outside world, 'environmental gimmicks' were baring their fangs.

A 'debuff of misfortune' that strikes from the very beginning.

The strongest cold wave to hit the Kinki region.
Although the sky is clear, the howling wind is truly 'Bagicross' level.
The Blue Mage's ordeal began the moment she stepped into the field.

A few steps after leaving the house.
A gust of strong wind hit her 'folding parasol (defensive equipment)' directly.
'Snap.'
The moment the ribs broke with a merciless sound, normally one would think, 'That's it for today,' and their heart would break.
However, it seems our Blue Mage was different.

'The umbrella broke in my place. So, I'm in an invincible state today where I won't get hurt!' (Apparently, Mario's star music played in her head.)

It seems she defined this misfortune as 'warding off evil' and converted it into a positive buff (enhancement magic).

The lost treasure and a reunion of despair.

But the dungeon's difficulty level increased even further.
By the time she arrived at the 'Spo-cha' training ground, she realized one of her earrings had vanished.
It must have been blown away by the strong wind on the way.

She was apparently very shocked when she noticed.
However, since she loves crafting, she thought,
'What should I transform the remaining one into?'
She viewed the loss as a 'seed for creation' and continued her adventure.
As her parent, I can't help but admire her positivity.

And then, the god of fate played a truly surreal prank.
A few hours later, at a save point called a 'restroom' she stopped by.
The moment she sat down to do her business.

'Plop...💎🚽'

Before her eyes, sinking at the bottom of the porcelain, was undoubtedly the favorite earring she had given up on earlier.

'...No way!! It was there!'

The joy of reunion and the despair that it was in a 'forbidden sanctuary (toilet bowl).'
Normally, one would be convinced it's 'game over' here, pull the lever, and bid it a final farewell.

However, the 'party's financial situation' crossed her mind.

Hero (Mother) and Bard (Father)
Currently between jobs (zero gold income)

“Can you buy me a new one?”
I couldn't bring myself to say that, not with our current household finances.
She steeled herself and chanted a forbidden special spell.

“――Hand Dive (Desperate Bare-Handed Grab)!!🚽👍”

She sealed the rescued earring in layers of toilet paper, tucking it deep into her pocket as if handling a cursed piece of equipment.
The adventure with her friends continued after that, but in the Blue Mage (Daughter)'s heart, there was always
“...But it was soaking in the toilet, wasn't it.”
a lingering damage (poison status).
However, she never stopped smiling.
Because she was convinced that this 'reunion' wasn't a coincidence, but a result she had drawn to herself (lol).

Holy Purification: The Inherited 'Baby Picture'

Afterward, my daughter returned with the earring, strictly sealed (barriered) in toilet paper.
“This is dirty, isn't it...?”
To save her from the curse debuff of that fear, the strongest purification item, 'Milton,' was summoned from our kitchen.

The holy liquid famous for that 'baby picture'.
While people might graduate from it after the baby bottle sterilization days, it is still very much in active service in our home.
It is a regular piece of equipment we keep buying to banish the darkness from water bottles and lunch boxes.

I feel her growth, knowing that the baby on the package, once used to protect her from illness, is now acting as holy water for a daughter who dove into a toilet to retrieve her favorite item.

The earring was submerged in a sea of Milton.
It seemed that not only the physical dirt but also the cloud in her heart that had been tormenting her was melting away beautifully with this magic.

Today's Strategy Memo

The lesson learned from this adventure is significant.

• Find a 'substitute' to offset misfortune.

• Turn 'loss' into a 'seed for a remake'.

• Use even the misfortune of 'unemployed parents' as material for the 'resolve' to take a step forward.

What she drew to herself was not just an earring, but
'the power to positively redefine any situation'.
I think the Blue Mage (Daughter)'s personality must resemble the Hero (me)... no doubt about it.

The Hero (me) cannot be outdone either.
Even if my current status is 'unemployed freelance,' if I reframe the trouble in front of me as a 'sign of leveling up,' the path should open up on its own.
As expected, my RPG world is wonderful (#^^#)

The unemployed life of the Hero (Mother) and Bard (Father) will continue, but witnessing the resilience of our party member, my daughter, it was a day where I was convinced that 'this party can conquer any dungeon'.

Even if an earring gets submerged, or not a single paid article sells (lol), as long as you have the courage to 'hand dive,' you will surely be okay.

Even if it's messy, even if it's uncool, in the end, laugh, purify it with 'Milton,' and head to the next adventure.
