The writing you produce has the power to 'influence' someone's daily life
The writing you produce
has the power to 'influence'
the 'daily life' of someone you don't even know,
and even their 'life' itself.
It has that much power.
If you were told that,
could you believe it?
A little while ago, I
believed that writing had the power to move 'emotions'
.
By reading something,
you might feel relieved,
chuckle at something funny,
or be moved to tears.
I hoped I could write something
that would stir 'emotions'
while or after reading it.
That is what I thought.
However, that effect only lasts while you are engaged with the text.
Once you return to your usual routine, most writing
'is never remembered again';
that is the reality.
Based on this reality, I realized that writing has
a 'power'
that goes beyond
moving 'emotions'.
I realized this.
That is
the power to influence the reader's 'life'
.
Using the word 'life'
might sound a bit exaggerated.
For example, even if you rephrase it as 'daily life',
the meaning is the same.
Life is the accumulation of each and every day.
The reason I thought about this
was triggered by a certain thought
that popped into my head
a few days after writing this article.
'I wonder how many people
read this article and
put it into practice.'
When I peek at the view count,
it is currently 175
Changing the four characters of 'I'm tired' into 'gratitude'
If even just one person
even just once
has put it into practice,
that means through the power of writing,
you have influenced someone's 'daily life'.
If even just one person
has made it a habit,
if such an honorable thing has happened,
that means through the power of writing,
you have influenced someone's 'life'.
I myself
have had the experience of reading a certain blog thoroughly,
and having my way of thinking change significantly.
I have read books,
and there are times when I apply them to my creative activities.
I have read notes,
and I also have the realization that the world I see
and the topics that come to mind in conversation
have expanded.
Like a
'butterfly effect'
If one article you posted,
if one sentence you tweeted,
somewhere, for someone
could become a trigger for action
could become a topic that livens up a conversation
could stop tears
could save a life
As a writer, the results
will often not reach you.
Even so, if you have
an interest in writing,
there is no harm in
dreaming or fantasizing.
With the feeling of a butterfly's small wings fluttering,
let's sow the seeds of 'influence'
into this world.
🦋
The butterfly effect is a term meaning that 'a very small event can eventually lead to a large, unexpected outcome.' In Japanese proverbs, it is similar to 'When the wind blows, the bucket maker profits' (where something seemingly unrelated has an unexpected impact elsewhere).
