On writing my first full-length novel.

For the past few days, I have been challenging myself to write a full-length novel. Did you wonder what had suddenly gotten into Mashime?
One goal I set for myself was to write up to the third chapter. I managed to achieve that yesterday!

Why did I set writing up to the third chapter as a goal? It was to enter this official contest.

I learned about this contest because Akira Yamane was participating by writing a full-length novel.
The first entry, "The Prophet," had such vivid descriptions of the protagonist's special abilities that I was completely drawn into the story. 😳
It's a story that leaves you wanting more. I really hope it gets adapted into a manga!!

I'd like to try writing one someday.

…If the deadline is the end of September, I might make it in time.

When will you write it?

I'll write it "here and now"!!

That's right.
By writing the article mentioned above and awakening to the "here and now," I was able to start writing.

And so, over the course of a week, I was able to submit it before the deadline! 😭
It's not about whether I win or not; I feel a sense of accomplishment in having taken on the challenge "here and now." ✨

So,
"Horses, Deer, and Lost Sheep" is now being serialized!

A little behind-the-scenes story about the work.
Actually, the rough idea for this story came to me toward the end of the "Creative Awards" period. The Creative Awards had various categories, and I was also interested in the adaptation category. Since it was so close to the deadline, I kept the idea on the back burner for "someday."

Just as I was thinking I might aim for next year's Creative Awards, I learned about the existence of the "Original Work Awards" shortly after.
The condition that you could enter by writing up to the third chapter (without having to finish the ending) also lowered the hurdle for me.

I'm nervous inside again about what my fellow noter friends will think.
Even if I lose some likes or followers,
Well, so be it!
I decided to follow what I "wanted to do."

As a result,I'm having a blast.
While writing, the characters started moving in ways I hadn't anticipated, and as I fixed parts where I felt the expression was off, the dialogue changed. As I organized the settings and faced the characters, I naturally grew attached to them.

Moving forward, I plan to write the fourth chapter and beyond at a leisurely pace, while still interspersing my usual (thought-based) articles. Please join me if you'd like. 🙇‍♀️
