How to Set Goals
What is a goal?
It is an "indicator" set in between to reach the ultimate "purpose" or objective.
As we enter a new year, we think about our goals for the year, but first, there is a "purpose", and the indicator to realize that becomes the "goal".
Purpose and goal differences, please refer to the blog below.
How to set goals
Once the "purpose" is decided, you need to set a "goal" to realize it.
For example,
Purpose: To have a healthy body
Goal: To lose 5kg of weight
, like this, you decide the purpose and the indicator to realize it. Furthermore, by setting
actions Action: Go to the gym twice a week
, you can
decide on actions to achieve the goal.

If, along the way, going to the gym becomes the purpose, and you end up not getting a healthy body or losing weight, it becomes "making the means the end", so let's check our goals firmly without losing sight of the purpose.
SMART criteria
What is important when setting goals is called the "SMART criteria".
The SMART criteria are
Specific: "Concrete, easy to understand"
Measurable: "Measurable, numerical"
Achievable: "Agreed upon, achievable"
Relevant: "Relevance"
Time-bound: "Clear deadline"
It is. We take the first letter of each word and call it the "SMART criteria".
When told to set a goal, I think
Specific: "Concrete, easy to understand"
Measurable: "Measurable, numerical"
come to mind, but
I think the remaining three are more important.
Achievable: "Agreed upon, achievable"
Relevant: "Relevance"
Time-bound: "Clear deadline"
Because, even if you set a goal that is unachievable, irrelevant to the purpose, and has an unclear deadline, your motivation will not last.
Before you even start, setting sales goals that are too high, deadlines that are too short, tasks unrelated to your skills, or deadlines years away will not sustain your motivation.

It is important to set goals that are achievable if you try a little, are relevant to your future skills, and have results that can be seen in a span of 3 months, half a year, or a year.
It is okay to change goals
I have explained "how to set goals" and the "SMART criteria".
Have a "purpose" and set a "goal" as its indicator.
For that goal, set something that is
"specific", "measurable", "achievable if you try", "relevant to the future", and "has a clear deadline"
, and put it into action.
Of course, it is wonderful to be able to execute and achieve things as planned, but if they are easily achieved, you cannot grow.
What is important is to set goals, take action, measure them, and achieve your purpose.
For example,
Purpose: To have a healthy body Goal: Lose 5kg of weight Action: Go to the gym twice a week If you cannot go to the gym twice a week and your weight does not decrease as much as you thought, because the purpose is "to have a healthy body," Goal: Lose 3kg of weight Action: Change your diet to be healthier As shown here, goals are "indicators for achieving your purpose," so it is fine to change them. If you go to the gym five times a week and fast, you will lose sight of your purpose.

It is important to set goals with a purpose, take action, measure them, and get closer to your purpose. Let's set goals for the new year!!
