Shireneko and the Secret Ball
One night.
Knock, knock.
Someone knocked on Shireneko's door.
“Huh?
Who could it be at this hour?”
When he opened the door,
there was no one there.
Instead, a letter
was illuminated by the moonlight.
“On the night when the stars shine brightest,
we will hold a secret ball.
We are waiting for you
and your dear friend.”
“Polar Bear!
It's a ball!”
“Let's go!”
The two of them, filled with excitement,
began to follow the glowing map.
The entrance to the ball
Deep in the forest,
there was a large, old door.
Creak...
As it slowly opened,
sparkling music flowed out from within.
That was when it happened.
Whoosh...
A gentle light
enveloped the two of them.
Shireneko's clothes turned
into a prince-like tuxedo.
Polar Bear had changed
into a fluffy, flowing blue dress.
“Wow!”
"At this ball, you see."
A gentle voice
could be heard from somewhere.
"Everyone,
take on the form you most want to dance in."
The two looked at each other and
smiled.
Act 1: Starry Corridor Waltz
A corridor leading to the starry sky.
The Milky Way in the sky.
Shooting stars
flow by in time with the music.
Shireneko, who was a little shy at first,
when the polar bear held out a hand,
"Pleased to meet you, meow."
The two
began to dance slowly.
One step.
And another step.
The stars applaud them.
Act 2: Petal Ball
When they opened the door,
this time it was
a spring garden.
Cherry blossom and rose petals
rode the wind
and danced around.
Wow!
Even the petals
seem to be dancing.
Every time the two of them laughed,
the flowers,
the butterflies,
and the little birds,
all began to dance together.
Act Three: Dance of the Aurora
The night sky is full of
auroras.
The lake has become a mirror,
reflecting the sky,
the stars,
and the two of them.
The music is
a little slower.
There are no words.
But,
just by holding hands,
It's so much fun,
that feeling
was clearly conveyed.
Act Four: The Ball Above the Clouds
The next door leads
above the sky.
It is a stage of fluffy clouds.
The rainbow bridge is
the dance floor.
The birds are singing,
The wind gently
carries the rhythm.
Shireneko too
and the polar bear,
are full of smiles.
Spin, spin.
Float.
It was as if even the sky was laughing.
The final dance
The music is
jive.
The last song.
Shireneko and the polar bear,
the biggest
they have ever done,
and the most beautiful
spin they have ever taken.
Clap, clap, clap!
The stars too,
the flowers too,
the wind too,
everyone is applauding them.
Farewell
The doors to the ball
opened slowly.
Outside,
it is morning.
Soft light
spreads all around.
As the two stepped outside,
the magic
faded away into a soft glow.
The polar bear had
its usual light blue ribbon.
Shireneko, too,
was in its usual form.
However,
the warmth of their hands
remained just as it was at the ball.
On the way home.
From Shireneko's pocket,
a small star-shaped card
fluttered out.
On it,
it was written like this.
"Let's dance together again."
The two looked at each other,
"Of course, meow!"
they laughed.
And,
still holding hands,
they walked home along the morning path.
