I will no longer return 'Likes'. —— A declaration to stop mechanical approval and deliver 'words (comments)' to your stories
In the world of note, there exists something like an unspoken rule.
'If you get a Like, return a Like.'
'If you get a follow, return a follow.'
At first glance, it looks like a warm interaction.
However, I want you to stop and think for a moment.
How much value is there in a heart mark pressed simply as a 'thank you' on an article that wasn't even read?
Over the past year, I have become a little exhausted by this routine work in the name of 'courtesy'.
And above all, I realized that it is very disrespectful to the writers who create these works.
Therefore, as I enter my second year (2026), I have decided to change my behavior.
1. I will stop selling 'Likes' cheaply.
Starting today, I will no longer perform any reflexive 'return Likes' for the 'Likes' I receive.
Please don't misunderstand; I feel gratitude from the bottom of my heart for you reading my articles.
However, if I am to show that gratitude through action, I believe the right thing to do is to 'properly read' the other person's article as well.
My time is limited.
If I have time to scatter hundreds of 'return Likes,' I would rather use that time to carefully savor the story of a single writer.
2. I will only leave footprints when my heart is truly moved.
From now on, I will only press 'Like' on works that I truly find appealing, have read to the end, and that have moved my heart.
This is not a confirmation of 'I read it.'
It is 100% pure praise, saying, 'Thank you for this wonderful work.'
Therefore, if you receive a 'Like' from me, please know it is neither a social obligation nor flattery.
I want you to take it as proof that your work truly struck a chord with me.
3. 'Words' over 'Hearts'
And above all, I want to make 'comments' the centerpiece of our future interactions.
A relationship that ends with a single button press is far too bland.
What part was interesting?
Which expression made me jealous?
What did that story remind me of?
I believe that putting these thoughts into words and conveying them is the highest form of respect for a writer.
The number of 'Likes' I give may decrease.
However, in exchange, I will start appearing in the comment sections of your works.
With heartfelt impressions, not canned responses.
No more clicking just to say hello.
From now on, let us have a conversation of souls through each other's work.
In 2026, that is the kind of 'reader' I want to be.
