Telepathy Like A Satellite
The other day, I was dead drunk and using a tongue scraper, but I lost track of how much pressure I was applying and shredded my tongue to pieces. Am I a gorilla?
At the time, I was so drunk that I was actually happy to see the crimson water when I rinsed my mouth, but when I woke up the next day, it had turned into a canker sore—probably because bacteria got into the wound.
Eating was painful, talking was painful, and even though I usually talk endlessly to Matsuko Deluxe or Goro-san from 'Kodoku no Gourmet' on TV, I fell silent.
The 'The Myu' event, Telepathy Like A Satellite Kyoto Edition, was only two days away.
I tried taking zinc and using patches for canker sores—which I accidentally swallowed—but nothing worked, so I went to the dentist the day before the event.
At the dentist, a lady with a Kansai accent examined me and said, 'I always do this to myself whenever I get a canker sore!' while burning the sore on my tongue with a laser. It’s obvious, but I guess medical professionals speak in Kansai dialect too. It smelled like grilled meat.
On the day of the event, which I welcomed with a scorched tongue,
I met up with Chamiko, Hamitan, and Kaihei-tan, finished rehearsals, and Kyoto nano opened successfully.
Until the event actually starts, I get anxious every single time: Will customers come? What if everyone who reserved cancels? What if I forget all the lyrics from nerves?
I was just as anxious as always that day, and I felt like I was going to throw up my stomach.
While I was feeling like I might throw up, the first act, AIRCRAFT, began.
I’ve only performed with AIRCRAFT once back in March, and after that, I only performed once with their guitar-vocalist Shori-kun in an acoustic set, but I love them because I feel a desire to teach someone (which is different from just 'conveying') the cuteness and pop sensibility hidden in their deep-rooted darkness.
The melodies are so catchy, I love them so much.
I’m really bad at writing reviews of other people’s music, so I can only say I love it, but when listening to music or watching live shows, it’s meaningless unless I feel 'I love it' rather than just 'this band is good.' AIRCRAFT is good, but more than that, I love them, love them, love them—they make my heart flutter.
If anyone ever hurts AIRCRAFT, I (their big sister) will not forgive them.
After dancing like crazy to AIRCRAFT, the seadays started their live set with a blast of sound.
Honestly, while I thought, 'Don't make such a loud noise before The Myu,' I love the seadays, so I danced like crazy. The sound was so loud that the cup with my drink in it was dancing too. Glad it didn't spill.
I’ve had a long relationship with the seadays since I was 18. At first, they were scary because of the loud sound and their long hair, but lately, everyone except Kubo-san doesn't have such long hair, so they aren't scary anymore.
It had been a little under four years since I came to Kansai, and this was my first event in the region. I absolutely wanted to invite the seadays for my first Kansai event, so even though I was embarrassed to tell them, I made sure to convey that to them.
I love the loud, savage, and pure seadays. For some reason, everyone in the seadays had a face like they were about to cry, which is cute!
Maybe it was because our ears were wrecked by the seadays, or because mogura-san was getting the crowd hyped, or because we were so excited, but I feel like this was the loudest The Myu has ever been.
But it was the most satisfying show we've ever done! I still feel great.
As for what kind of show we did or what songs we played, it’s a secret because we have the October 6th show at Shimokitazawa THREE...
But I can say one thing: The Myu is fully intending to get big, so you’d better see us now while we’re still the 'first-event' version of The Myu!
It was a night where I felt it was okay to be on the losing end, like when someone cries for you before you can even cry yourself, leaving you with no choice but to laugh!
I laughed from the bottom of my heart! I really want to kiss everyone who was there. Thank you.
(I was happy that Ryo Watanabe called me his best friend. Also, Yui-chan from AIRCRAFT gets cuter every time I see her. So cute. Let's do it again, either acoustic or as a band!)
