I Love Housework!
I love housework
I love housework!
Because I can be useful to my family.
I personally think that being useful to my beloved family is
the number one reason for doing housework.
Making bento boxes for my husband,
cooking meals for my children,
doing the laundry, and wearing fresh-smelling clothes every day.
Of course, I don't take it for granted,
and I want them to be grateful too.
But every day, I feel the happiness of being able to do housework.
Waking up to a messy room,
a house that always ends up cluttered—
that's the state it's in because people are living there.
I get fed up with it all the time,
but my family is by my side,
and they tell me they love our home.
I don't think there's much else in life that's as happy as that.
I am the Captain of Housework!!!
When I was a child, I couldn't do as I pleased.
Even if I didn't like the layout of the house,
it was my parents' way, and it was how they liked it.
I couldn't even arrange my own room the way I wanted.
Now that I'm an adult,
I can arrange things how I like,
I can clean how I like,
and I can say "Clean up!" as I like.
I can even decide the rules for housework!
Because I'm the one working the hardest at it.
Whether it's how I like to do chores
or asking others to do the chores I'm not good at,
since I am the
Captain of Housework I can take charge of everything related to housework.
Housework is also a place for communication with my family.
When I wash dishes with my children,
we talk about our day while saying, "It's just the two of us, Mom and child."
While hanging or folding laundry together,
I ask, "Is there anything bothering you right now?"
and they sometimes secretly tell me things they can't tell other family members.
Housework is also a place for time alone.
Listening to music with earphones while folding laundry,
or getting lost in thought while washing dishes.
Everything at about 60 percent. On my own terms.
I get tired because I try to be perfect.
I always used to be exhausted by housework because I wanted to do everything perfectly.
I would wait until the laundry basket was full before running the machine.
Thinking about the water bill.
But then, it wasn't on my schedule.
I would run the machine during late-night hours.
Because electricity is cheaper at night.
But then, it wasn't on my schedule.
I was always doing housework according to someone else's timing,
and I was always being chased by chores.
But now, I run the machine even if the basket isn't full.
I run it even if it's not late at night.
If you wash a little, you can hang a little, and put away a little.
Because of that, you feel less tired when you're done, and you get a sense of accomplishment.
If you do a lot all at once, it's hard to hang it up and hard to put it away.
It's okay to do a little.
Because you were able to finish one task: the chore of laundry.
Even a trash bag doesn't have to be full.
It doesn't have to be at the usual time; it can be at your own pace.
Housework is always a race against time.
Housework is something you do every day.
That is exactly why your own timing is so important.
If you get too tired, you won't feel like cleaning.
It's okay, it's okay, you won't die if it's a little dirty.
I'll definitely feel like doing it eventually, if it's me.
So, trust yourself and it's okay to leave it for a while.
Facing what you dislike
Why do you dislike housework?
Why are you not good at housework?
What is stopping the flow?
Face what is stopping that flow,
and as a daily routine,
to be able to do it as a smooth process,
make some time to thoroughly face your housework,
and try to think of solutions.
For example, if you don't want to cook, think about the reason why you don't want to stand in the kitchen.
Because the dishes aren't washed, and if you don't clear that up, you can't start cooking.
-> Try to wash even one dish immediately so they don't pile up.
There are things on the cooking space, and if you don't clear them, you can't cook.
-> Decide that you will absolutely not put things on the cooking space.
In that way, if you face why you dislike that chore and why you don't want to do it,
solutions will gradually come into view.
It is also a daily mental training.
Actually, I had started to dislike folding laundry because the space to put it away was narrow,
and the clothes were packed tight, making it difficult to put them in.
I discovered this, got rid of clothes I didn't need, and secured space.
Since then, the action of folding and putting away became easy,
the unpleasant feeling disappeared every time I folded laundry,
and I started to feel relieved and enjoy it, thinking, 'Let's fold the laundry and put it away quickly!!!'
Perhaps it is also important to face why you dislike something.
Maybe...
Maybe there are many chances to come to like housework lying around!
Because it is housework you do every day,
please try searching for things you like about it to see how you can come to like it.
I would be happy if this could be a hint for you to find what you like about housework.
