Is there anything scarier than something free?

I splurged a little on Friday night.
So, on Saturday, my day off, I thought I should live modestly.

“I’m going to study today, so just get something simple for lunch.”

Who does she take after?
Even though she’s in the middle of exam season, my daughter says she’s going to study
from the middle of the day on a Saturday.

Should I just go to the convenience store and grab something?
Come to think of it, I think I got a discount coupon...

Thinking that, I searched through my mail and such.
What came out wasn't a coupon, but
a direct mail flyer from an electronics retailer.

Hmm...

A stand light for reading before bed.
I actually wanted one of those.
Well, it’s unnecessary if I’m using an e-book, though.

I’m just a commoner drawn to the words “free gift.”
Things like this are just bait to lure customers in.
Once you get them, they break right away or you stop using them.
Within a year, they’re just bulky trash.
That’s usually how it ends, but...

I went to get it right away lol
Setting the lunch issue aside

I got what I came for and was about to leave without buying anything
when...

“Today, for those who purchase over 800 yen,
we are giving away a gift of your choice!”

A voice from the attached bakery stimulated my desire to buy lol
For the two of us, my daughter and me, 800 yen is easy to exceed.
The lunch issue is settled too; this is what you call killing two birds with one stone.

I chose five items at random and headed straight home.

“So, lunch is just bread.”

“...So, which one am I supposed to eat?”

“Well, just take whichever one you like...”

At that moment, a little joke popped into my head.

Daughter: "A draft system!?"

Whoops, the nominations overlapped right away!
We'll have to settle this with rock-paper-scissors!!

My daughter played along too, lol.
I wonder how long she'll keep playing along.

We chose everything using the draft system until the end.
Well, there were only five items, though.
As a result, the Milk France was snatched away, lol.
Along with the coffee I received as a gift,
I enjoyed the salt butter bread.

This was an event on a Saturday afternoon
that stemmed from something free.
I really should be grateful
for moments like these...
