Are 100-yen shop screen protectors okay?
Recently, I've noticed more and more scratches on my smartphone's screen protector, so I'm thinking it's about time to replace it. I've mainly used screen protectors from 100-yen shops, but I'm sure many of you are wondering, "Are 100-yen shop screen protectors actually okay?" So, in this article, I'd like to verify Are 100-yen shop screen protectors usable? while sharing the pros and cons I've felt from actually using them.
Types of 100-yen shop screen protectors (Daiso)

As you can see, looking at the Daiso Net Store, there were even more varieties than in the physical stores. There were glossy and matte types, as well as ones with blue light reduction!
Is there a difference between general screen protectors and 100-yen shop screen protectors?
Personally, I don't feel there is a major difference between 100-yen shop screen protectors and regular ones. I've actually used several of them so far, and I haven't had any particular trouble with them scratching easily or breaking right away. However, compared to high-performance glass in the several-thousand-yen range that comes with anti-fingerprint coating, I did feel they get dirty a bit more easily.
In terms of numbers
Many screen protectors sold in stores and on Amazon are labeled as 9H hardness and in fact, many screen protectors sold at 100-yen shops are also labeled as "9H hardness." Since they are both 9H, it's not the case that they are inferior just because they cost 100 yen. However, be aware that some products do not have a hardness rating listed.
What is the actual protective capability?

This time, I bought these two types of screen protectors at Daiso.

The screen protector on the right included a wet wipe for cleaning. This is sufficient, but I would have been even happier if it also included a dust-removal tape.
Trying to scratch it

As expected, it doesn't get scratched to this extent. Even when applying a cutter, I don't feel like it's leaving any scratches. <Looking at it this way, the screen protector on the right is quite blue.
Oil stains
This time, I tested it with an oil-based marker, which is similar to oil stains.

It repels it well. I'll leave it for a few minutes from here.

After a few minutes, I wiped it off with a tissue, and it all came off cleanly!
What is the actual durability?
This is an iPhone that I have been using for over half a year with a blue light-cutting screen protector from Daiso.

I have dropped it a few times, so there are some cracks, but it has protected my iPhone well.
Based on this, are 100-yen shop screen protectors a good choice?
To conclude, you can use 100-yen shop screen protectors without any issues! For those who "want to save a little this month" or "don't want to spend much on a screen protector," choosing a 100-yen shop screen protector is definitely a viable option in my opinion.
Even when actually using them, the feel and hardness are almost no different from standard screen protectors, and they can withstand long-term use. Above all, the low price is a major appeal!
For those who are not good at applying them
I have recommended 100-yen shop screen protectors today, but for those who are not good at applying them or lack confidence, I recommend purchasing a screen protector that comes with an applicator guide! It costs a bit more, but you can apply it perfectly.
