What happened when I tried a small challenge on note
Expressing my thoughts through words
is one of the reasons I started note.
However, when I tried writing, I couldn't summarize things concisely and felt my skills were lacking. I wanted to improve somehow. So, I borrowed the power of the many educational posts on note and conducted a "self-study project."
Method: Write comments
When reading posts, I often feel various things, from new discoveries and ideas close to my own to eye-opening insights.
Instead of just thinking "Indeed" or "I see" to myself and leaving it at that, I decided to put into words what made me think that way.
Objective: Improve the ability to write concisely
Since the comment section is small, I should naturally be conscious of conveying things concisely. If I happen to get a reply, I can also evaluate whether my message got across. I decided to aim for improving my writing skills this way.
Furthermore, writing helps me internalize what I have learned and felt from reading.
The results are...
My comment-strengthening week didn't produce visible results in just about a week. That's obvious when you think about it, isn't it?
However, I felt that it could be effective.
I started doing a lot more "trimming" after writing, and by comparing my work with other articles, I painfully realized that I was trying to pack too much into one article.
I intend to continue my commenting activities.
This is something to look forward to, but apart from that, I was able to produce some unexpected "results."
Unexpected Result 1. Followers and "likes" increased
You might think, "Wasn't that predictable?" but I felt that just because I took action didn't necessarily mean there would be a reaction. This was purely my own action, and I wasn't expecting anything from others.
Suddenly, I reached 100 likes and exceeded 100 followers.
To those who thought, "That's amazing!" thank you!
And to those who thought, "That's not a big number," you're right! Please watch over me warmly as I feel my own growth.
Unexpected Result 2. New encounters bring great rewards and even more new encounters
While choosing articles at random, I sometimes read them because I am captivated by the cover illustration. I realized that illustrations also have great power. After reading, I jump to the illustrator's page and comment on my thoughts.
Furthermore, if I find other comments on that article interesting, I visit that person's page and write a comment there too. As I kept doing this, people gradually started to take notice of me.
And they even ended up writing introduction articles about me.
Unexpected Result 3. Ideas of what I want to write are overflowing
Since I started note because I wanted to write in the first place, I have notes piling up in my drafts, but through the encounters from my comments, the content I want to write about has increased even more.
Sign language, words, differences... and I've also started to think about learning and connecting business perspectives like diversity management and marketing.
Thus, despite it being a short period, there were various unexpected results.
Considerations
By taking action, even if I didn't get the desired results immediately, I was able to produce unexpected results. And they were all very beneficial.
However, I also felt that to produce the desired result (improvement in writing ability), it requires not just the continuation of the action (writing comments), but also the exploration of further methods and actions.
Including as a way to give back to those who have interacted with me and those who have given me insights through their wonderful articles, I would like to continue my training so that I can weave together sentences that convey my thoughts more effectively.
Postscript: I also did a second round!
I compiled my articles from comment activities.
