[Free Script] Memories of Golden Leaves
Characters
Toma: In his forties. A painter. He continues to paint the colors of fallen leaves.
Hina: Late twenties. A former pianist. She lost her hearing in an accident.
Scene 1: In the Garden of Withered Leaves
(Sound of wind. The rustling, dry sound of leaves rolling.)
Toma: "Fallen leaves are mysterious, aren't they? Even though they are dying, they are so bright."
Hina: "...Bright, you say?"
Toma: "Look, see? When you hold them up to the sun, they shine as if they've been dusted with gold powder."
Hina: "...Ah, you're right. I can't hear it with my ears, but... this light feels like sound."
(Silence. Only the rustling of fallen leaves can be heard.)
Scene 2: The Color of Memories
Toma: "My mother used to say, 'Time sleeps inside fallen leaves.' When I paint them, I truly feel it. The scents of those days, the laughter..."
Hina: "I have that too. When I used to play the piano, I could see particles of light falling onto the keys. ...They were golden."
Toma: "Golden, huh."
Hina: "'Gold' is the color of warm memories. ...But I can't touch them anymore."
Toma: "Because you can't touch them, they remain. Both the light and the sound."
Scene 3: A Promise in the Wind
(The wind grows slightly stronger. The sound of leaves dancing.)
Hina: "If you could hear sound again... what would you paint?"
Toma: "I would paint your sound. I want to try wrapping the world in golden fallen leaves."}]
Hina: "...Golden fallen leaves, you say?"
Toma: "Even when they scatter, they shine. There is a blessing within the ruin."
(Silence.)
Scene 4: Rebirth of Light
(The soft sound of a piano echoes faintly from afar.)
Hina: "...I feel like I can hear it."
Toma: "Hear what?"
Hina: "The 'sound of gold' that you paint."
Toma: "I see... Then your ears are no longer closed."
Hina: "Yes. Within your golden paintings, I am alive once more."
(The sound of a single leaf fluttering down.)
Scene 5: Memories of Golden Leaves (End)
Toma: "You are like a golden fallen leaf. Even as you scatter quietly, you illuminate the hearts of those who see you."
Hina: "And you, too. ...You are the one who gathers the light."
(The wind stops, and a single bell chime rings out in the distance.)
Hina: "Thank you. For painting my sound."
Toma: "Thank you. Because you were the one who listened."
(A quiet lingering resonance. The curtain falls along with a faint piano melody.)
