That Day, I Fought the Man Who Was the Top Boss

Afterword

Once again, I have depicted 'a certain day' from the daily life of a high school student in the Showa era that I experienced myself.

Now, I would like to take this opportunity in the afterword to write a little more about my friend 'Noga' (a pseudonym). At the time, Noga would often say, 'Kubo! We're best friends, right?'
Yes, he was the kind of guy who could say such cheesy things without a second thought (and I don't mean that in a bad way).

However, since I'm not good with that kind of sentimentality, I could only reply with, 'Yeah... well...' (laughs).

Around the end of summer vacation in my third year of high school, I was dumped by the girlfriend I had been dating since my second year... That happened. Feeling down, I called Noga to a coffee shop in Ikebukuro that night.
Noga listened to my story (the pathetic, rambling story of a heartbroken man) in silence and stayed at the shop with me until morning... That is what happened.

And at that moment, what I thought was, 'Best friends are truly a blessing' (laughs).
I didn't say it out loud, though.
By the way, I have used that experience as a reference for manga I've drawn twice in the past (for work).

One of those times is this ↓, turned into a 4-panel manga like this (laughs).

*By the way, I had a chance to meet him recently (May 2023) for the first time in about 10 years (we had a drink), but he flat-out said, 'I don't remember' that night I was heartbroken (laughs).
