Poem: Searching for Something Different from Yesterday

"Heading out for my usual walk,
the path I always take,
the familiar rows of houses,
the faces I often see.
There lies an unchanging daily life.
That must surely be
something to be grateful for,
something I should feel
is happiness.
And yet,
something is missing.
Something feels unfulfilling.
Something a little different from yesterday,
a new encounter,
a new discovery,
a new inspiration.
What on earth
is it that I am looking for?
So today,
I will try walking a different path than usual.
Turning a corner I have never turned before,
heading into an alley I have never entered,
I will try to find a view I have never seen.
What lies ahead
might be something special.
It might just be the same old scenery as always.
Even so, that is fine.
There are things you can only encounter if you walk.
Today, I will try walking a different path.
Beyond that,
there might be a version of me I do not know yet."
