Prioritize and clear your tasks before you get overwhelmed and want to give up
As you get used to your work and become capable of doing various things, work will start coming your way from all directions.
When you get promoted and have subordinates, your workload will only continue to increase.
At such times, the one thing you must never say is, "That is not my job."
The person who asked you did so precisely because they thought, "That person will do it for me," "He is the right person for the job," or "If they can handle this, they will grow even more."
If you refuse by saying "I can't do it," you will be labeled as "useless," and work will never come your way again. It is the same as closing off your path to advancement.
You must always be chasing after work.
Unless you are willing to take on not only your own work but also the work of others, and even handle your boss's tasks, you cannot expect to grow.
I have also written about this in the article below, so please take a look if you like.
When you keep increasing your workload and taking on more, you will inevitably reach a breaking point at some stage and become unable to process everything.
Even at such times, setting priorities is important to calmly determine the order of tasks and get them done.
By setting priorities, you can shorten your working time and efficiently achieve everything you need to do.
Today, I will explain how to set those priorities.
<Deciding based on importance alone>
(Creating a to-do list)
Before thinking about priorities, the first thing you must do is write down everything you need to do and everything you want to do, from the big tasks to the small ones, without leaving anything out.
Unless this is clear, you cannot move forward. This is a common step that must be taken for all the methods described below.
(Ranking)
And the simplest way to set priorities is to judge based solely on importance, a method called ABC analysis. Depending on the importance of each item you have listed, categorize them into:
"A: Most important, things that absolutely must be done,"
"B: Important, but not a problem if they are not done at worst,"
"C: Not that important, but satisfying if done."
(Starting the work)
All you have to do is work through them in order from A to B to C. This way, you will not get caught up in things that don't necessarily need to be done, preventing you from being unable to do the things that absolutely must be done.
<Deciding based on importance and urgency>
As your tasks increase and you start getting requests like "Please do this by such-and-such time," you will need to take that into account as well.
Considering both importance and urgency in this way is a method called the Eisenhower Matrix.
(Classifying by importance and urgency)
Now, divide the completed "to-do list" according to importance and urgency.
The guideline here is that importance refers to things that affect your life, such as achieving goals or your health.
Urgency refers to things that have a looming deadline and require immediate attention.

A: Urgent and important tasks
B: Important but not urgent tasks
C: Urgent but not important tasks
D: Neither urgent nor important tasks
(Deciding on actions)
Once you have classified them, start working on them according to the determined order.
A: Highest priority, start immediately. B: Secure time by putting them in your schedule and plan them out. C: Limit the time spent on them or delegate them to others. D: Do them for a break, or don't do them at all. Deciding not to do something is also important.

(Priorities within the same group)
Even if you categorize them like this, when you have a lot to do, you will end up with multiple tasks within the same group.
In such cases, let's finish the things that seem easy to do right away first.
Conversely, even for tasks that seem like they will take a considerable amount of time, starting on them now will reduce the burden later.
Working on things simultaneously is also a good idea.
If a task is linked to other things, you need to do that one first.
Let's take a close look at the content.
Also, new tasks that must be done may come up along the way.
This happens quite often, so be sure to anticipate it and leave enough room to handle it.
Depending on the situation, you may be forced to change your plans, so you need to be flexible in responding to that as well.
(Things to check)
Don't forget to check the progress of the tasks you have started in this way every day.
By always being conscious of what is most valuable right now and acting efficiently by setting priorities, your work will progress surprisingly smoothly and will be cleared away in no time.
