Former Comedian, Now a Care Worker.

I was a comedian with Yoshimoto Kogyo.

In my early 20s, I moved to Tokyo and enrolled in the Tokyo Yoshimoto NSC (training school). I then became a comedian affiliated with Yoshimoto. My peers included Joyman, Ogata-kun from Panther, and Slim Club.

I formed a manzai duo and performed routines, but I kept bombing, so at 30, I decided to put an end to chasing that dream. (I stood on the stage of a Shibuya theater called Mugendai Hall for a little bit.)

Days of self-reflection after quitting comedy

After quitting comedy, I didn't know what to do, so I spent my days working part-time jobs. Since I worked at an izakaya, I even seriously considered becoming a chef.

I became a freeter after graduating high school and then a comedian, so I had never properly job-hunted. Taking a computer vocational training course at Hello Work later led to my work in website production. I think I was about 33 at the time...
I think I was writing HTML in Notepad on a mini PC.

I just wanted to be a full-time employee

With the immediate goal of becoming a full-time employee, I continued job hunting and managed to get a sales job at a printing company. However, the sales job didn't suit me at all, so I quit. That was when I encountered web design and started teaching myself how to build websites. By then, I had returned to my hometown.

I spent my days working at a supermarket early in the morning, and then locking myself at home to study website production. Over six months, I created a portfolio and sent out resumes to anyone and everyone. I think I sent them to about 50 companies.
And somehow, I managed to get into a website production company as a part-time worker. Those days were really tough... I was on the verge of giving up.

My hard work was recognized, and when they asked, 'Would you like to work as a full-time employee?', I was finally able to work with peace of mind.

Looking ahead to caring for my mother

I live with my mother, who is over 70, in my parents' home. Since I was raised in a single-mother household, I started to feel that it was my duty to take care of her.

And now, I work as a care worker at a day service center while continuing to build websites from home.

I want to change the image of the nursing care industry to a positive one

The care work suited me.

Having been a comedian, I enjoy entertaining people.

However, the public image of care work is not good. That is precisely why I started sharing information, using the skills I have to change that image into a positive one.

I continue to work and write in the hope that by humorously depicting the real episodes that happen at care sites, understanding of nursing care and a positive perspective toward it will spread.
