I Want to Know That! Monokakingdom 2023
It has already been a week since the theme announcement.
Some of you have already entered (thank you!), and reading comments like "I'm having fun brainstorming" or "It feels like the end of the year and I'm excited" really makes me think, "Ah, I'm glad." I think, maybe I wrote this just to hold this event.
On the other hand, I wonder if there are things you're wondering about afterreading the recent "Theme Announcement" articleand actually trying to get started.
Today, let's answer those"I want to know that! I want to know more!"voices of yours. Oh, I haven't actually received any inquiries. This is my special skill, though. I can see everyone's question marks, or the little bubbles popping up in your heads. Let's go.
Q. Let me confirm the judging criteria one more time.
I write all sorts of things, you know. It's moving, it's great, it's interesting! Which one is the judging criteria? If that's not clear, I can't write it. Well, there is only one: "Is it a good article or not?" What kind of article the applicants—who are also the judges—think is "good!"—that's all.
Q. Is it okay to use an article I wrote in the past?
Of course. Remakes are very welcome (don't just add a tag to an old article, post it as a new article for this competition). Between us, it's also okay to think, "This isn't good... let me write it again" during the two-week application period. The point is, which article you have the tag on at the submission deadline of 11:59 PM on Thursday, December 14th.
Q. Wait? Does that mean I can write as many as I want?
In effect, yes. If you remove the tag, it's just an article. You only enter one, but the trial and error leading up to that is free (I don't have the authority to stop that anyway), so please think to your heart's content about the theme of "warmth." However, the final entry must be one article (strictly observed).
Q. How exactly do I enter?
Just add the tag "#Monokakingdom2023" to your post, that's it. Some people write "I am entering this article in the competition" (of course, I'm grateful for the spread), but it's absolutely fine even if you don't. However, please make sure the tag is accurate. Otherwise, you'll be left out of the selection.
Q. The tag is "Monokakikingdom2023," right?
You have one extra "ki." The hashtag is "#Monokakingdom2023." It shares the "ki" between "Monokaki" (writer) and "Kingdom." Oh, is that a pun? Please call it stylish. The trick is to type "Monoka" and then add "Kingdom"; I think that conversion is smooth. Don't forget the year, either.
Q. What about the use of AI (artificial intelligence)? What about plagiarism (copying)?
AI is okay, but plagiarism is not. note is pushing AI (?), or rather, they are expanding its features, right? I can't stop that, and in the first place, it's impossible to distinguish. Plagiarism is out of the question, and I think you'll get caught—and if you do, you'll be held in great contempt (I will too).
Q. What happens if there is a tie?
I see, that's not an impossible scenario. I need to decide on that in advance, considering such possibilities. I'm not exactly the head judge, but the entry that receives a vote from me (Kotoba to Kokoku), as the organizer, will be declared the winner. If it's still a tie, we will hold a runoff vote.
I suppose that's about it.
Just to review the upcoming schedule: Submission deadline is Thursday, December 14th, at 11:59 PM—there is still over a week left. It's getting nicely cold outside, and the theme of "warmth" really hits home. Come on, let's enjoy the last "writing festival" of the year! Who will be laughing on the night of the 24th (Sunday), Christmas Eve?
