[SodaTalk 3] The story of an app born from parenting worries: 'I want someone I can talk to calmly, 24 hours a day'
Hello, this is KotoApp.
Although I have been unable to use my PC for a while, I am continuing to post today without stopping my thinking. This time, I would like to talk about the origin of the AI parenting consultation app I developed, 'SodaTalk,' and how it came to be.
The trigger for development was a marital argument
When raising children, opportunities to discuss educational policies and daily worries with your spouse increase, don't they? One day, I was discussing concerns about my older child's kindergarten with my wife.
Because we were both thinking seriously about our child, our opinions clashed, and it ended up becoming a bit of an argument.
At that moment, I thought to myself: 'I wish there was someone who would just listen to me mechanically, 24 hours a day, without getting emotional.'
With a human, emotions inevitably get involved. But with an AI, I thought I could bounce my ideas off it and calmly organize my thoughts. That was the starting point for developing 'SodaTalk.'
The concept of 'SodaTalk'
The 'SodaTalk' that was born from that is a very simple app. Its main feature is a chat function where you can register your child's information and consult with an AI about parenting at any time. It is aimed at all dads and moms struggling with parenting, from babies to high school students.
What I felt when I actually used it myself is that the AI doesn't necessarily give you the perfect 'solution.' However, by venting your feelings and seeing the objective response from the AI,you strangely become calm. It gives you a chance to take a step back from the problem and re-examine yourselfthat is.
What I needed at that time was not a perfect answer, but precisely this 'time to become calm.'

Episode during development
That said, development was not smooth sailing. After all, it was my first time implementing an AI chat. I struggled a lot with trial and error on how to achieve natural dialogue.
And, as I wrote in a previous note, dealing with app reviews was also mentally tough, such as being rejected for reasons unique to AI.
Summary
Born from a small misunderstanding between a husband and wife, 'SodaTalk' has now become an app packed with the big wish to 'deliver even a little bit of time to be calm and peace of mind to dads and moms raising children.'
If you could try the new option of AI when you are struggling with parenting worries, instead of carrying them alone or just between you and your spouse, there would be nothing that makes me happier as a developer.
