Let's Eat Various Black Thunders (Last Updated: 2021/4/12)

I love Black Thunder.

Black Thunder is great. It's delicious, cheap, and yet satisfying. While this way of praising it might imply that a beef bowl would also be fine for a 3 PM snack, it's just great regardless.

One of the things I love about Black Thunder is the variety of types. Black Thunder, Big Thunder, Pretty Style... and there are also tons of flavor differences. Limited-time products are released at such a fast pace that I never get bored, and each one has a charm that makes me think, 'Oh, I should buy that.' Plus, 99.9% of them are actually delicious. (I'm starting to worry if there was even a 0.1% that wasn't good.) Yuraku's product development department is truly amazing.

However, there is a problem.

As I mentioned earlier, the pace of releases for limited-time products!!! Even if I find a Black Thunder I like, it disappears so quickly!!! And then I forget about it!!! Plus, the types sold in the past aren't even on the official website!!! But I love that about them too!!!

So, this is a column where I eat various Black Thunders and record my impressions.

Black Thunder

Deliciousness at the speed of lightning!

The standard Black Thunder. Naturally delicious. No explanation needed. It seems it was renewed a while ago, and if you look closely, the logo has changed. The nickname is 'Black God of Thunder.'

Kaki no Tane Thunder

Nice snack middle!

The crunchy texture and saltiness of the Kaki no Tane are delicious. Whoever discovered chocolate-covered Kaki no Tane is great and amazing. The nickname is 'Sweet and Spicy God of Thunder.'

The large box in stores says 'Unstoppable sweet and salty!.' I will also record this catchphrase if it differs from the one on the product itself.

Corn Potage Thunder

"Rest assured, it's delicious!"

It contains light corn puffs and is slightly salty. I thought, 'Is this corn potage?' while eating it, and the aftertaste is indeed corn potage. It's good. Perhaps because of the corn connection, it's similar to the 'Morokoshi Thunder' I ate before.
The nickname is "Crispy Thunder God".

Gori-Gori Gorilla Thunder

"A deliciousness that makes even a gorilla go 'Uho!'"

The pressure from the packaging is just too strong. Why did they go all out in that direction? It contains crushed banana chips, and as the name suggests, it's 'gori-gori' (crunchy/hard). The change in texture is nice, and it has a strong banana flavor, which is delicious.
The nickname is "Thunder God Uho". Anything goes, huh?

By the way, this Gori-Gori Gorilla Thunder,

has an unusually large number of package variations.

What is even going on with the one on the bottom right? Are you supposed to write a message in the blank space? I don't want this thing to be my messenger.

Black Thunder Blissful Butter

"I want to drown in fermented butter"

A regular Black Thunder is 30 yen, and a slightly more elaborate one is 40 yen, but this one is 50 yen. The packaging isn't the usual glossy type, but a matte material. I wondered if it would be delicious since it's expensive, and when I ate it, it was truly delicious. It's a cut above the rest. It has a flavor like butterscotch candy.
The nickname is "Authentic Thunder God". I was surprised by the difference from the gorilla...

Black Thunder Uji Matcha

"With a lightning-class tea ceremony."

There have been matcha flavors before, but it's delicious as always. Or rather, I can't really tell the difference. The matcha is rich and delicious. I love matcha-flavored snacks, so I'm very happy.
The nickname is "Matcha Thunder God". You can see the hard work of the person in charge.

Honey Butter Thunder

"Let's relax"

It contains something like honey jelly. Every time you bite into it, the honey makes its presence known, which is delicious. The "flavor" versions of Black Thunder are great because they have such a strong character. You could probably tell what it is even if you were blindfolded.
Its alias is "Easygoing Thunder God".

Black Thunder Fra-Flake Flavor

"Let the thunder of victory roar!"

This is likely a product inspired by the exam season. It's probably something like a "Kit Kat" (sure to win). The crunchy texture of the cocoa cookies is joined by the crispy cornflakes, making for a nice change in texture. Its alias is "Encouraging Thunder God".

Black Thunder Moist Premium

"An enchanting richness"

It's 50 yen, part of the same premium series as the "Supreme Butter." It was labeled as "limited time only," but since I remember seeing it in the past, it's probably a winter seasonal item. The usual emphasis on crunchiness is toned down, and as the name suggests, it's a moist type. It also contains Western liquor, so it's somewhat brownie-like.
Its alias is "Elegant Thunder God".

Imo-Kenpi (Sweet Potato Fries) Thunder

"Emotional deliciousness!"

It contains crushed sweet potato fries. The sweetness of the potato and the crunchy texture actually go surprisingly well with the chocolate, and it is delicious. I thought, "Chocolate x sweet potato fries, that's a combination that hasn't been done before, nice work Yuraku!" but it seems it actually exists. Hmm. Its alias is "Crunchy Thunder God".

Black Thunder Cacao 72%

"Crunchy and delicious rich cacao"

A Black Thunder with a high cacao content. As for chocolates with high cacao content, "Chocolate Kouka" is famous, and the taste is actually quite similar. It has a bitter flavor, so it might be good for those who find the sweetness of regular Thunder too cloying.Its alias is "Jet-Black Thunder God". It really looked black.

Big Thunder

It is known for often failing to live up to the "Big" name, as it has a large surface area but is so thin that it breaks incredibly easily, and the weight is not much different from a regular Black Thunder (at most about 1.5 times). Before I knew it, the packaging had become gold. It was different before, right? Because of the large surface area, there is more chocolate, so it has a different deliciousness than the regular Thunder. The fact that the inside is only cocoa cookies is also simple and good. Big Tree Thunder

In addition to containing gold sesame seeds, I feel like sesame seeds are also kneaded into the cocoa cookies inside. The popping texture and aroma are delicious. Even so, isn't the progression of victory -> gold medal -> gold sesame a bit of a stretch? The alias is "

Black Thunder Pretty Style

A bite-sized Black Thunder developed mainly for women (?). The taste is the same as a normal Black Thunder, so there is nothing special to mention other than that it is easy to eat... If I had to force it, maybe it is not very crunchy because it does not contain large biscuits. The alias is "
Goddess of Thunder", the tagline is "Bite-sized and lightning-class deliciousness☆"

It is scary that you can eat them one after another even though there are surprisingly many in a Pretty Style pack.

Black Thunder Pretty Style Custard Apple Pie

A custard apple pie flavored "Pretty Style". It contains dried apples like those in granola, and the chewy texture is delicious. It is somewhat soft. The alias is "
Lumpy Thunder God".

Black Thunder Pretty Style Caramel Flavor

This was a pouch type with a zipper. Convenient for storage. It contains finely crushed caramelized almonds, and the crunchy texture and caramel flavor are addictive. However, it is quite sweet. If you eat a whole bag, you will think, "Sweet...". Don't people usually eat a whole bag at once?
The alias is "Amber Female Thunder God" The tagline is "Almonds and caramelize♪"

Black Thunder Pretty Style PABLO Cheese Tart

A collaboration with the freshly baked cheese tart specialty store "PABLO". It is definitely delicious, but the cheese tart feel was just "I guess so if you say so". I don't know the original, so I can't say for sure... I bought this around the end of January, but it pushes the summer feel too much, saying things like "delicious even when chilled" or "a summer's...". Was it originally a product released in the summer?

Black Thunder Bite-Sized Used the Most Luxurious Bitter Chocolate in History

Where does the name even end? I wonder if they changed their direction from "Pretty Style" to "Bite-sized." By the way, it seems to be "the highest grade in Black Thunder history." It's one of the "premium series" that Black Thunder releases periodically. The price is about 150 yen. As for the taste, which is the most important part, it's certainly tastier than the usual one, but I don't have a particularly refined palate, so I can't really say for sure. The bitterness is strong. It feels fruity. There is definitely a sense of excitement when eating "expensive chocolate."
The nickname is straight to the point: "Premium Thunder God".

Black Thunder Mini Bar Almond & Hazelnut

A mini bar type that comes in a large bag. I didn't really feel like buying it because I thought it would be hard to finish a large bag, but I received it from someone. It's nice to receive things when people know that I "like Black Thunder." It's cheap, too. The different crunchiness of the two types of nuts, cocoa cookies, and biscuits is delicious. The nickname is "Double Nut Thunder God".

Black Thunder Mini Bar Fragrant Fermented Butter

It's somehow delicious, but it's the familiar fermented butter flavor where I don't really understand what "fermented butter flavor" is. Actually, I don't know why, but it's good. The richness and saltiness are nice. What really is fermented butter? Is it fermented? What happens when you ferment it?
The nickname is "Mellow Thunder God".

Black Thunder ALMOND

A long, thin size for 100 yen. It contains quite a lot of sugar-coated almonds, so it has a strong crunch. It's good. It's also nice that it's easy to peel and eat because it's long and thin. No nickname. Given that the words "equivalent to 8 almonds" and "5g of protein" are dancing on the package, I wonder if it has a stronger aspect as a functional food. The "Black Thunder" logo is also quite understated. Overall, it feels different from the other lineups.

Black Thunder Mini Bar Valentine

Since the contents are the same as the regular mini bar, this might be an extra edition. A mini bar with a Valentine's package. By the way, I received this from a relative.
